Quick thoughts: Very refreshing song by a band that has been around forever. I love all there music and this is no exception. I'm not going to fall into the trap of comparing their past work to it, i think on its own it is a great, groovy tune that will get many interested in the band again or for the first time.

I dont like the new song, and it's not going to be a grower for me
Very predictable from beginning to end, Blackout is 100 times better

The Blackout and The Little Things That Give You Away blow this out of the water. Way to boy bandish sound for my U2 liking. Too poppy too. You have better in there boys.

I'm digging it. I wish there was an amazing Edge solo during the 2:44-3:00 stretch. I was waiting for it, but it never came. Vocals are good and I like the lyrics. Bass line is great, just like Blackout. I like the drums that kick in. I like it better than Little Things. For me it is Blackout, Best Thing and Little things in order of likability. Wondering where the other 9 will fall.....

You know you're chewing bubble gum
You know what that is but you still want some
You just can't get enough of that lovey-dovey stuff

From a band I used to love.

I remember people were trying to be positive with 'Boots' when it was released.

Boots tried to be hip & edgy & failed. 'The Best Thing' tries to be sweet & poppy & succeeds.

Not sure what I prefer.

What song does the chorus remind me of when I heard Edge's jingly guitar? Tip of my tongue...

Edge’s guitars in Mysterious Ways, especially the live solo and Perfecto Remix performances.

The Best Thing is not embarrassing like Boots. Its just very uninteresting.

Any poor lead single from a band as big as U2 will be embarressing. Espescially after the wait.

This is the second time U2 will feel embarressed after a lead single.

Boots is a far superior song, from the fantastic guitar intro to the unusual structure and chords progression. It ticks a lot of boxes with me

A 57 year old man singing about young love in a non-ironic or wistful way is pretty embarrassing.

What makes you think it’s about young love?

Most songs deal with love or infatuation to some extent, so I'm not entirely sure why age would matter. A lot better than them singing about wheelchairs and Medicare if that had to be the case.

I liked all of that, but the ending of the song grates with me. The chanting 'get on your boots whey hey hey'
