U2 is such an amazing band! It's just so interesting to see how people's lists differ and why! Can't imagine having meaningful debates on the ranking of other bands' albums.

If I could put all the albums between positions 1-3, I would, but since I can't here's my current version:

1. Achtung Baby
2. Zooropa
3. Pop
...
Who am I kidding? Making this list is too difficult! Apart from AB, it could be quite different tomorrow, or this afternoon!

I'll have to admit I'm not familiar with Boy, War, or October - I've never really bothered with early U2. So my list will start from the Unforgettable Fire era.

1. Achtung Baby
2. Pop
3. Joshua Tree
4. Zooropa
5. All That You Can't Leave Behind
6. Unforgettable Fire
7. Songs of Innocence
8. Rattle And Hum
9. No Line On The Horizon
10. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

I'd flip the last two around as "worst". Some of the songs on Bomb are good, probably more than songs on No Line.

Pop is my favourite album, and I know I say it's the "best" but to rank them, you just gotta let Achtung Baby pip it. Close second though.

Personally I like Zooropa more than JT, but in fairness, in terms of what it is and what it made the band become, you have to rank JT higher.

I love doing these lists, periodically.  May as well do another before the next album.

Top Tier
1. Achtung Baby (always my #1, by anyone of all time)
2. The Joshua Tree (had a resurgence for me this year – I assume it has with a lot of folks)

Second Tier (these three can be interchangeable)
3. The Unforgettable Fire (has “Bad,” my favorite song – love every song with the exception of the title track)
4. No Line on the Horizon (this often sits at #3 – I connect with this album in a very special way)
5. Zooropa (this moves up to #3 every night after 10:00 p.m. – very personal album to me)

Third Tier (these can also get interchangeable, depending on the season and the mood)
6. Boy (I go through periods where I still spin this quite a bit)
7. All That You Can’t Leave Behind (many well-crafted songs – would be higher if not followed by the similar-sounding HTDAAB)
8. War (great album, only brought down by “The Refugee” and “Red Light,” which are the rare U2 songs I don’t care for so much)
9. Pop (seems like it should be higher than this, I love it so – I don’t think it’s aged well, for me)

Last Tier (but still love them -- #10 through #12 can also be interchangeable)
10. Songs of Innocence (I never really connected with it – maybe it could still happen)
11. Rattle and Hum (I’ve probably been unfair to this album in the past, but I’m sure glad U2 made it)
12. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (meh…, still good, I just don’t play it often)
13. October (it has its own mood, which I sometimes enjoy)

1. POP. Brilliant, dark, ironic.
2. Achtung Baby. Masterpiece.
3. The Joshua Tree. First side and the end amazing. Let down by TTYW and Red Hill.
4. Songs of Innocence. Coherent, solid songwriting. Epic live show.
5. The Unforgettable Fire. Love the soulful sketching of songs.
6. War. Some real passion here.
7. Zooropa. Absolutely love some of the stuff on here - experimental and confident.
8. All That You Can't Leave Behind. Some solid stuff on this album.
9. Rattle and Hum. Nowhere near as bad as people think.
10. Boy. Some good stuff but some raw songwriting.
11. Atomic bomb. One Step closer and crumbs hugely underrated.
12. October.
13. No line on the horizon. A piece of trash. Absolutely horrendous album. Mildly saved by Cedars and Fez. Crazy tonight? Uggggh. Shivers.

6. Boy
7. Achtung Baby
8. October

Under A Blood Red Sky

Unforgettable Fire
Captive Soundtrack
Joshua Tree
Rattle And Hum

Achtung Baby
Zooropa
Passengers
Pop

No Line On The Horizon

Songs Of Innocence
Songs Of Experience
Songs Of Ascent
1. Why is Passengers your #1?
2. Songs OF Ascent hasn't even been hinted at.
