Remember this is the band who shows up and plays on rooftops. They could do something

They are too old and tired now to try anything. Band's not even in STL today. I'd say swing down to the stadiuma nd see them tear down the stage, but that'd probably hurt too much.

There's 50,000 u2 fans in town - if they showed up on a rooftop 50,000 wouldhear of it and it would create a worse security situation than the one they were trying to avoid in the first place

Am I the only one who thinks that this is a very strange reason to cancel a show, for a band that has as much touring experience as U2? It's not like the local venue would be realizing just now that U2 draws a large crowd. This sounds like some sort of threat was made.

Good point.   I doubt it was a threat per se but there will be an attempt made tonight to protest and limit access to an interstate, mall, etc.    With everything else downtown already cancelled, the possibility of a protest being planned at the venue had to have been considered.   I was headed there with my kids this evening.   As disappointed as I am, that isn't something I would care to experience either with or without them, but especially with them.

Just saying James Brown played during race riots in Boston and it calmed the city- I expected U2 to do the same.

There are plenty of venues outside the city that are just as good. Remember it was Bono who said all the instruments and the fancy equips isn't important what's important is the song (before they covered knock on heavens door)

Just show up play 10 songs that's the U2 thing to do

So sorry for all the fans who won't be able to see them. But I'm sure it's the right thing for everyone's safety. The band never cancel a show without very good reason.

Once again we can't have anything in St Louis- no NFL no Mls no concerts, how long before the blues and cards leave

Few into town today to see our only show of the tour. Got off the plane and found out.

Bummer.  Not a hell of a lot to do here, otherwise, unfortunately. The Cards aren't even in town.

This is crap!!! My wife and I have looked forward to this for months. We have 5 kids and rarely get to do anything with each other. We have saved and planned for this and now what, so very very disappointed.

I read several articles and it appears this was not a U2 decision it was a St. Louis one becuase their officers were not able to provide the security and crowd control needed due to being used elsewhere for the protests

Always a great place to AVOID a riot.
