"Here's the full interview with Edge. A separate email Q&A with Bono is said to be coming soon."
Maybe he will tell then.

Nothing, no hint. He just doesn't speak about it.

Q: "You've spent the past few months playing The Joshua Tree on tour as you put the finishing touches on the album. Has the tour impacted how you thought about Songs of Experience? How?"
A: "In truth, there's a couple of reasons why we delayed Songs of Experience. One personal, one political."

A"The Blackout," which started off its life about a more personal apocalypse, some events in my life that more than reminded me of my mortality but then segued into the political dystopia that we're heading towards now."

Thats all.

A setlist focused on Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience would be absolutely phenomenal!  California, Iris, Raised by Wolves, Cedarwood Road, Sleep Like a Baby, This is Where You Can Reach Me Now, and The Troubles should all get played regularly.  I'd love to see them try that Vertigo Tour version of Mofo too.

Vertigo tour version of Mofo?

Please post a link. One of their best songs and only have Popmart live versions. Post Pop Dischotheque versions were real good.

It is only played during Popmart.

Correct - it was never played outside of PopMart, but it was rehearsed for the Vertigo tour.  Here's the only clip I know of:

Nice! Sounds like it should sound!

I know they did a snippet with the 'mother am I still your son'-part as intro to Iris

Thanks for the link.  But this is awful compared with the Popmart version.  No wonder they didn't play it again.

I loved it in Popmart though.

Yeah, only twice, and that was the only showing Pop made on that tour. :'(

There's also this snippet from the SOI tour.  It hasn't been forgotten...

I enjoyed reading the interview, but the non-answers on the Pop stuff and LWTSH were a bit of a letdown. Kudos to the interviewer for throwing those out there. There's some great material that needs to see the light of day on stage again.

Mofo sounds INFINITELY better in the Popmart era than on that Vertigo tour clip!

Play this loud and repent if you think otherwise ;)
