Hurrah. Wonder what the link with the USA is? Best Thing seems on the surface to be one of the only songs on the album not about the USA!

Strange marketing move.
Why not release the video with the single?

Bring back Paul Mcguiness and shoot on 4K not on crappy DSLR cameras.

Keen to know who directed this..

I don't like the quality. Why is Larry wearing glasses at night? Looks like it's from 2001

It looks very sub par and cobbled together.

are you seeing more than the 8 seconds I just did? if not, how can we truly have an opinion or a feel for the video yet?
all rock stars wear sunglasses at night...not my fav song and typically videos are not of high importance for me personally.
From SOE for me thus far:
1. TLTTGYA 2. Blackout 3. YTBTAM

Videos really feel so pointless these days in the post MTV world we live in. Unless you're getting someone truly interesting to interpret the record they really don't have any use other than a bit of b-roll film for the TV advert around the album release (and there aren't too many people doing that!) and a few hits on Youtube.

From a few things Edge has said regarding the SOE album and release it looks like they are going 'retro' with it and just ticking all the boxes (push for the big radio hit, work with all the streaming sites, do the big TV shows) - not trying to be too clever this time around. More than it looking safe it sort of looks a bit desperate. However maybe they are thinking ahead of us and that the 'anti-clever' campaign is today quite revolutionary. I mean when was the last time a huge band like U2 released a record in the 'traditional way' - probably not since U2's NLOTH!

Hence why we get the goofy 'rock star' video (city skyline - tick, black clobber - tick, inappropriate sunglasses - tick - open top car ride - tick) - it's all so cliched it feels like a total joke but maybe that's the idea? They are a big goofy band, it's a big goofy 'feel good' song. Do you need a clever video interpretation? Probably not.

But it ain't going to touch Beautiful Day which is by far and away their best video...

its been a long time that i was excited over a u2 video, probably SYCMIOYO is the last one i actually enjoyed.  too many recent videos just seem to be using the newest video/image effect app of the moment.

Yeah and what's with that video static at the start and finish? Can't U2 invest in some better production equipment I mean geez.

But really, this is where I draw the line on premature critiques. The footage of the band looks to be intentionally scrappy with the glitchy transitional effects and obvious filtering-job.
