Did anyone see this story about Bono in Colombia?  an tha sent me an email alerting me to it.  As someone who was brought up Catholic it interests me that Bono made this gesture.  Was it a “mistake” or an attempt to reach across the denominational divide?  I think he looks suitably modest and humble and so I personally am heartened that he chose to receive the Eucharist.

I missed the boat on this I assume, but any disclosable (not a word) reason to an tha's absence? Glad they're alive bc I was worried for a bit.

Maybe John Paul II gave Bono permission to receive the Eucharist 8)  Or, maybe he did have the Catholic 101 training at some point.
At any rate, why is someone taking photos of someone receiving Communion....the ultimate private moment?!!

Im pretty sure I can recall some interview with Bono and Edge where Bono is talking about his and Edges father being best of friends and getting drunk together despite Bono's father being a catholic and Edge's not and how it didnt matter at all..and mentioned  in the same breath that although  first years of his life he was raised mostly  catholic but quickly switched going to a protestant church because thats where his mom would go..he also wears that rosary around his neck forever and you would hardly ever never see a strict protestant wearing a rosary..not to say Bono is some strict catholic..he always refers to himself a christian, above anything else..lets switch subject :-)

Very happy that Bono received holy communion!!!

He was a baptized catholic who received the sacraments as a child. He is and always welcome in the Catholic Church!!!

That being said I agree that there should not have been a picture taken if it. This was actually a big deal on the Catholic channel yesterday on Gus lloyds show

This story leads me to believe that since leaving the forum and Tha has taken his Father Ted persona seriously and become a Columbian priest.

Did I miss something here, what award did he get?  I think it's great that Bono felt comfortable enough to receive holy communion.  But to whoever took the picture, tacky, very tacky.
