U2 hits historic heights with "You're the Best Thing About Me, " which rises 2-1 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart (dated Oct. 21).

"Best" marks U2's 13th No. 1 on the chart, which began in 1996, breaking the band out of a tie with Coldplay for the most No. 1s in the list's history. U2 claims sole possession of the distinction after Coldplay tied the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers with "Adventure of a Lifetime" in December 2015.

"Best Thing" previously became U2's record-extending 25th top 10 on the chart.

Deserved. It's an awesome song, I don't get tired of listening to it, which is something it didn't happen in a while.

How is this song "alternative" in any way? Same goes for Coldplay. As mainstream as it comes.

Yeah it's number one on a very limited format. It's not getting broad airplay, and won't.

  • Can't fight for s---, but sure can take a beating
Adult alternative?  Can't we just unify the belt and make it one chart for rock/pop (and maybe another one in the corner for country)?
But that is cool, glad this song is getting rotation and being heard.

This is great! Been hearing it all over the place and I hope the song brought it in a few new fans.

I've been hearing it all over the place. I even heard a lady at work singing along to it. She only likes songs that come on the radio. She's likes what she likes. She doesn't follow bands.

Not sure of how 'limited' AA format is as it is a very strong ad demo (35-54 Female) for marketers. It is now #23 on Rock and #106 on Pop...#1 on any format is significant as far as the chart game is concerned...the fact that it was on a top 40 in medium rotation must mean quite a bit to the band, but to me...hearing a 20 something singing along and having it as a ring tone was pretty dam cool for this old fan AND it points to Bono's favorite word for the last decade or so...relevant :)

This! It's a cool song that I find myself coming back to over and over again. I can't wait for the SOE to be released!

I've only heard it once on radio.

I haven't heard it played even once.

The alt-rock stations in Utah, USA (where I live) are spinning it 2-3 times per day.
