RIP Gord Downie
« on: October 18, 2017, 06:16:41 PM »
Sad news about the passing of Gord Downie, lead singer of The Tragically Hip, after his battle with a brain tumour. Many spontaneous memorials in hometown of Kingston tonight- his last year certainly lived the song “Courage”.

Rest In Peace Gord. You are a Canadian icon.

Plenty of material in the vaults which seems to be an all to familiar topic these days. A doc made during the last tour is airing soon as is a new solo album in less than 2 weeks.

Saw them at Winnipeg on August 5, 2016. My dad has been a huge fan since before Fully Completely came out, so he was really sad today too. I started to get into them so I could appreciate the concert more. I'm kind of sad I didn't realise how awesome Membership was until a few months after they played it at the show, because for some reason Phantom Power and We Are The Same aren't on Spotify.

Phantom Power is great. Thompson Girl, Something On, etc. etc. Fireworks of course, it is worth the hunt for that one.

Still can't listen to Fiddler's Green, Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man, Scared, and Done & Done without getting a bit choked up.
