Prediction time.
What do you think will make the cut for U2's next 'Best of'?
So far, they haven't put more than four songs from one album on any 'Best of's, so I'm going to assume they hold to the same rule for the next one.
(Note: The Fly was on some Best of's, but it didn't make the standard version for the whole world, which is why I don't count that as a 5th 'Best of' song for Achtung Baby.)
1980 to 1990 had 14 tracks with 1 hidden track.
1990 to 2000 had 16 tracks with 0 hidden, (for most of the world).
I'm going to predict another 14 tracks with 1 hidden for 2000 to 2010.
All That You Can't Leave Behind
1. Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix) - This mix came out in 2001, and I get the feeling they kept the regular version of 'Elevation' off their last one to put it on the next one.
2. Walk On (Hallelujah Mix) - This mix came out in 2002. Just like 'Elevation', I think they left the regular version of 'Walk On' off for this reason. There were only two songs from ATYCLB on the last 'Best of', so adding two more here would reach four for that album combined.
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
3. Vertigo
4. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
5. City Of Blinding Lights
6. Original Of The Species (The hidden track)
No Line On The Horizon
7. Magnificent
8. Moment Of Surrender
9. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight - I think this is supposed to be the next single, which is why I have this one over some other potential's from the latest album.
10. Get On Your Boots
Songs Of Ascent
11. Every Breaking Wave
12. Another song from this album
13. Another song from this album
Other
14. Mercy (The Single Mix) - This song doesn't really exist yet, but they could put out the version of this song they'd want on this album. Just like 'Sweetest Thing' from the first 'Best of', it would be a new version of a song originally made during that time period. 'Mercy' belongs somewhere, and it seems like this would be a better fit than making it a B-side to a single or something.
15. A new song - Just like 'Electrical Storm' and 'The Hands That Built America', from the last 'best of'.
