Joshua Tree remix/redo/edit thoughts?
« on: January 02, 2018, 04:38:49 PM »
Maybe there was already a thread for this and forgive me if there was but when JT was re-issued last summer, there were new versions of some of the old tracks. I thought I wouldn't give them too much thought after one or two listens like some of their other rare tracks but find myself going back to the Jackknife Lee remix of Bullet the Blue Sky. I think Lanois' Running to Stand Still is gorgeous. Streets and Without are also good. One Tree Hill remix is outstanding...

Your thoughts?

I think the remix of Streets reminds me of a film technique in which the filmmaker presents what a drug experience is like. The manner in which the music is panned suggests something overwhleming taking over and individual. That whole thing really just strikes me as personal absolution with a stronger force. Like an insect lives in your ear for three minutes and then leaves.

Make sense to ya?

LOL, u asked.
