What is this album?

Today I walked into a record store and found a U2 vinyl LP called Daughters and Sons full of old demos from 79. Does anyone know more about what this album is. Iíve never heard of it and there is little info about it online. For a full vinyl LP I would like to know more about what this is/ when is was released and why.

Interesting, itís got some great stuff on it though.

Yeah, it's a nice listen, especially when you just need your "Life on a Distant Planet" fix. (Which, I admit, is not frequent.)

The album is a collection of circulated demos from U2's pre-Boy era. Keen fans would have owned a copy before three of the tracks were officially released in Nov, 2004.

One thing the U2 fan community doesn't have is a recording session-ography database. So many bootlegs, which are thankfully now dying, have been re-printed over the years. You can tell they are different demos because of different amounts of tape hiss and tape degradation.
