Here's a story and clip from Friday's Late Late Show aired on RTE in Ireland.  Aslan are national treasures in Ireland and barely known outside.  It's no co-incidence that they and U2 come from the same part of Dublin and both were vying for recognition outside Ireland.  We know who were the most successful, but this story is full of amusing anecdotes of their rivalry in the 1980's, and how Bono eventually made a very kind gesture when Christy Dignam, Aslan's singer, became very unwell a few years ago.  There's a clip included of U2's tribute to Aslan.  Clearly the boys have all made up now, and I wish Christy all the best for his forthcoming medical treatment.

U2's version of "This is" is really fantastic. I often listen to it.

Aslan are often derided but I think they have some really nice songs. Where's the Sun is a personal favourite of mine.
