Hey girls! Instead of photos, I have passages for you! These are two things I read recently that were written about Bono, and I thought they rang true and reading them made me feel all warm and fuzzy towards Bono (it doesn't take much, I admit), so I'm posting them here. The first one's from Brian Eno, the second one's from some guy's blog:

"Well, he has an enormous ego, but so do most of the people I like. [laughs] And also a big ego isn't necessarily a bad thing. A big ego means that you have some confidence in your abilities, really, and that you're prepared to take the risk of trying them out. I really don't think he's arrogant. That's a different thing. In fact, he's absolutely, to me, the opposite of arrogant. He's very, very able, more able than almost anybody I know, to take criticism and do something with it. He just doesn't get upset. He doesn't take it as an attack on him if you say, oh, this doesn't work at all, it's really pathetic, actually. So it's possible to be very frank with him and know there's not some cowering insecurity inside him that is going to mean his feelings get hurt. His ego allows him to be humble, if you see what I mean. People who are very confident in themselves aren't hurt by criticism. They make use of it. I think he's very good at that."

"He’s less likely now to climb a scaffolding and wave a flag, and more adept at persuading 50 000 people to lift their voices in praise. He shepherds the crowd, even as he hurls his vulnerability into their arms in complete trust. Dare I say … his ego (about which he’s always been completely candid) is less visible while his strength is more so.

My dear friend and concert companion (and more casual U2 follower) put it beautifully in her morning-after email: I just love that feeling Bono gives me of being in the presence of greatness. Or more like Greatness, actually. The larger than life-ness that he's got while he's just this little guy walking around that huge contraption, he just ... doesn't look little. Like there's SO MUCH SOMETHING I DON'T EVEN KNOW in that one body, that it's like he's all crowding up in my business even from as far away as he was…"

and THIS is just beautiful!

Just found it ... there are some of those I didn't need to see, i.e. the one of Bono in all camo green ... awkward.

Monica graciously send me the one of Bono working out-- I have seen worse-- also courtesy of Monica. Smiley

Bloom, thanks so much for the quotes, yes we girls get carried away, maybe once in a while we should post something about his charity work, etc, if only for appearances sake.

Let's face it, one of the reasons we find Bono so attractive is becuase of the person he is and the work he does. It is the whole picture.

Thank you, Bloom, for adding some soul food to support the fluffy frosting in this thread (don't get me wrong, I like the frosting too... Grin) I think it's safe to say that Bono inspires the adoration he does  precisely because he's so much more than a pretty face.  It's the great heart inside the (undeniably attractive, nicely weathered, beautifully blue-eyed) human packaging that produces that magnetic pull... heck, I'm an Adam girl, and I'm saying this.
