E&I for “committed” fans says Edge

So if this tour is for hardcore or longtime or committed fans, how do you think they did in the planning? Anything you do different?

I won’t see a show until NYC, but I’m looking forward to Acrobat and all of the new stuff.

I think as a longtime and hardcore fan, I would also have to include
-All I want is you
-something deeper off Pop, maybe Please
-Daddy’s Gonna Pay
-something off War other than SBS and NYD
-The Fly
-40
-Something other than BD, like Kite or Walk On
-Moment of Surrender
-And 1 bside or movie track or one off single or unreleased track

But the narrative seems important so I’ll cut them a break!  As a committed fan I think we are into the narrative, the storytelling. Maybe I’m wrong but it makes it interesting for me.

I'm okay with them dropping "STreets" for this tour.  I think giving "BD" a break would be a good idea, too.

Edge seemed to think BD deserved a spot in the narrative but I agree with you. It has never been my favorite song on that record.

They should take this story thing and write an autographical musical using their music!

It could be a story about anything so much material.

Personally I hope they don't do that if they ever come to Australia which looks debatable anyway.  I can totally understand in places where they have toured the JT and also toured frequently over the years and want to just focus on songs from their new albums. I don't care if they don't play Pride or BD but would love to hear a whole range of songs from across the decades.  I am pretty sure I couldn't sit through an entire show of songs from their two latest albums, they are largely unknown where I live.
I find themes around mortality as vaguely depressing having just started to lose friends in their fifties and sixties and avoid thinking to hard about that stuff.

Oh, I could always want more from them, and almost always DO want more.  But I also know that they're filling arenas, and that a surprising number of fans had no idea what Acrobat was.  And everyone continues to inexplicably love Elevation.

I was thinking, though--is it me, or does this show feature the most songs from the current album they've done since AB/Zoo TV?  I got Red Flag Day, which I know is an alternate song, but still, for an album that hasn't set the charts on fire, they've committed a pretty large part of the show to it.

Ahhhh what I would do just to see them and hear them perform Fez-Being Born, this is my dream, my own Acrobat, it would make me cry, somehow I always imagined them starting the show with this song as the first. But I guess they would need 2 guitars to play this live though, it's a heavy tune. I would also like to see them play Grace one day, that must be a special moment. I wish they played Love Rescue Me last year during Joshua Tree tour, it was part of that period, it would be nice to ressurect this tune too.

"Fez" would make a nice opener.  It's so atmospheric, conjuring up an image of African skies.

Fez would be more suited to a song that re-energises a crowd after a quieter moment in a setlist. Not really an opener IMO.

Also, Fez really worked for me today. Was really dragging, had a ton of stuff to get done, not all pleasant. Fez on headphones got my ass in gear. Thanks, lads.
