If there is an Achtung Baby Anniversary Tour, then...
« on: July 06, 2018, 03:11:44 PM »
I would love to see U2 to make the era of the 90's the focus of the show.  Imagine, Achtung, Zooropa, & POP being the only albums they pull from?!?

The reason why I feel this could be a possibility is bc of how they were able to let go of playing anything off The Joshua Tree during the SOE Tour.  It gives me hope that perhaps they would feel they could pull off this concept.

It would be a pure treat for the fans.

Thoughts?

It could be the Trilogy tour of all three albums played in their entirety: Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and Pop.

The Cure did it...just google The Cure Trilogy.

Absolutely

I'm with The Edge on Zooropa though...It's good but, don't think it's TJT or AB good

Still holds the best U2 song ever written imo....Quite possibly the best song ever by anyone

They would probably start with playing Achtung Baby in it entirety, 12 songs, maybe play HMTMKMKM, Stay, SATS and either Discotheque or bring back Sattelite of Love.

Then the encore would consist of Streets, Pride, BD, Elevation, Vertigo and SBS.

That is just how I see them doing it if they do it.   Since Acrobat has been played, they don’t have a never before played song like TJT with RHMT. Macphisto also returned so that could be played either way

So Cruel, while played before, is enough of a rarity to take that slot. Also plenty of songs that just haven't been done in a while.

I'm Ready
I'm ready for what's next.

Zoo station is one of the better openers, plus So Cruel, the Fly and others. Good idea - this was their last decent album.

this is an idea i could get behind.  i'd love to see them just bring back the Zooropa show/tour.  i missed it the first time around.

Interesting, as I never thought of it that way.  I always thought it would be similar to JTT tour format, by playing pre-AB (Rattle and Hum?) in black, white, grey screen imagery.  The lights go down and either Zoo Station starts up or they have the video entry as a throw back to ZooTV and start into Zoo Station with all the colors and lights.

As much as I would like to see this happen, realistically I doubt the band will put on another anniversary tour for this simple reason: they are not under any contractual obligation to Live Nation to do this UNLESS Live Nation says otherwise.

While it might be nice to imagine, there's no way on earth you'll see them do this.  One of the three albums was considered a huge success--the other two, not so much.  I'm pretty sure their acknowledgement of Pop on the current tour is about as much as you'll ever see them do from that album.

Perhaps they could do an Achtung Baby Anniversary tour, and include selections from Zooropa and Pop, rather than the whole albums. But my gut tells me they won't do it. Although we do have the next three years to speculate wildly about it...:D

I think at most they either do an AB anniversary tour or, maybe even more likely, a Zoo TV anniversary tour, with no complete album but a heavy dose of AB with maybe a few Zooropa tracks.
