SOI Vinyl Question
« on: August 06, 2018, 09:23:38 AM »
Hi all, I saw a copy of SOI on vinyl in a nearby store for a reasonable price. I was wondering, are all copies currently white vinyl, or are some black?

I'd like the white vinyl. It doesn't specify anywhere on the album if it is or not. I know SOE has a hype sticker that says it's blue, but i'm not sure if the same thing went for SOI.

Thanks!

Technically there are 3 versions of SOI that we’re released on vinyl.

The first version was a limited edition white label, single LP black vinyl released September 23, 2014 in order to qualify for the Grammy awards. Limited run of 300 copies consisting of the 10 songs for just the basic album.

The second version is the one you’re looking for. A 2-LP white vinyl pressing released in a gatefold cover with complete artwork, lyrics & liner notes on printed inner sleeves. This is the deluxe release consisting of the album tracks & the bonus songs.

The third version is the 2015 Record Store Day exclusive release, limited to a run of 5000 numbered copies. 2-LP black vinyl of the deluxe release in machine stamped white sleeve & a single page of liner notes.

ha, i know.  i don't really listen to the newer albums on vinyl that much.  i had my SOI sealed for two years before i realized new vinyls will ne ver be worth anything and opened it.  tend to buy the CD and vinyl for u2 these days when a new album comes out.

Well new vinyl could be worth money someday if it's limited/exclusive. Like that Barnes & Noble clear vinyl of David Bowie's Blackstar.
