The best Halloween U2 songs?
« on: November 01, 2018, 07:28:20 AM »
What songs do you think are the most appropriate to use for Halloween dancing party or just as a background for family gathering to appreciate the loved ones that passed away.

I personally choose Lemon with its dark overtones, and perfect lyrics like "midnight starts when the day begins".
I don't know which other ones would be good. Maybe Night And Day, Unforgettable Fire and Elvis And The America and Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, fitting ones to honor the dead ones.

"This is Where You Can Reach Me Now."  It's got a Scooby-Doo montage thing about it.

"Corpse" or "Wake Up Dead Man"...
"Hold Me. Thrill Me. Kiss Me. Kill Me"

Absolutely.  I always think of Scooby-Doo when I hear that one part.

Hold Me, Thrill Me etc is the only one that even remotely works as a Halloween song.  They're not a spooky band.

I dont see it as necessary to be a spooky music itself, for me true origin of Samhain (Halloween) is honoring the darkness itself and the dead ones. So a song that brings to mind those who passed away is a good song for Halloween. Something like Kite and Mothers Of The Disappeared could be good too. Nice choice with Hold Me Thrill Me, yes. I would also add An Cat Dubh, which is absolutely perfect for Halloween parties only for that spooky aspect.

I genuinely think of Reach Me Now as a Halloween song. And crystal Ballroom because of the ghost lyrics.

I don't think these songs have to specifically be Halloween songs.  Just the songs in their catalogue that go with that holiday the best.

Kind of like, maybe, Christmas sort of goes with Peace On Earth, or Valentine's Day sort of goes with A Man And A Woman, or New Year's Day sort of goes with...  Hmm, I can't seem to think of a song that goes with New Year's Day.

If I had to pick any, it would probably be Corpse, Sinistereo, and the The Batman theme, all by The Edge.
