2018--a great U2 year
« on: December 31, 2018, 01:25:48 PM »
2018 was a great U2 year for me.  I got to see two concerts: Montreal 2 and Boston 2.  I was on the floor for Montreal (just feet away from Adam when they played Pride!) and in the first row of the balcony, stage right in Boston (a dreamlike experience to have unobstructed views of the screen at eye level).  They were both among the most moving and intense live experiences I've had in my personal eight tour/twenty-three show U2 concert going history.  And as this year ends, I still feel about Songs of Experience as I felt when 2018 began: it is my favorite U2 album since Achtung Baby.

A lot to be thankful for (and not just in terms of U2)!  Happy New Year to all.

When it was 2018, it was a very good year:

Yup, 2018 was a big U2 year for me - bigger than for most here (THREE new albums for me in addition to a show, my first in 25 years).

The past few years have been amazing in general for U2. I saw at least one U2 show a year for four years in a row, and wow was it fun. Three amazing tours, two amazing new albums, and more energy I've felt them from them since Atomic Bomb. It's been a really good sprint.

Agree - I actually feel somewhat spoiled - when i think back on it over a 3 year period I managed to see the band live 16 times, 2 new albums and a tour of the album that really kicked them on to greatness. I hope they take some downtime - my thinking 'this was it' is diminishing now - I think there could be more in the tank yet - so fingers crossed.

It was a wonderful year.  I saw them for the first time outside of the US (Manchester, UK). It is such a different experience, plus planning for that show prompted my husband and I to take our family on a two week European vacation.  It was magical.

Yes, great U2 year for me too, really getting into the second wind of my U2 fandom. Saw them live for the first time since the 80s. Wish I had seen JT30 but it there was too much going on with my mom then. So glad to have re-discovered them; they have been a great comfort in difficult times.
