^ I've said it before and I'll say it again - that's a Neil Diamond line (no offense OAP. It IS a great lyric)

"Blessings are not just for the ones who kneel-- luckily"

That line really gets me teary-eyed. I'm not religious at all, but when I'm emailing religious friends (which I just did, but rarely) I tack this Bono line on.

So touching!

There are so many to choose from, depending on the situation. A rather emotion-evoking few lines pertain to most of what my work life is like: "You ask me to enter, and then you make me crawl, I can't keep holding on..."
But I do love my work, as frustrating as it can be, so "Love is a temple, love the higher law" brings happiness and perspective for me.

There's no sunshine in your sky
There's no race, only the prize
There is no tomorrow, only tonight"
 - 'Stateless' from "The Million Dollar Hotel"
a movie that's a sure cure for insomnia (speaking from experience), but the soundtrack's a real treasure.

I don't know how to say
What's got to be said
I don't know if it's black or white
There's others see it red
I don't get the answers right
I'll leave that to you

Pretty cool....

WAAYYY too many to choose, so for today, I like these -- a few lines from a much maligned song that I happen to like

It's not a hill, it's a mountain
As we start out the climb
Listen for me, I'll be shouting
Shouting to the darkness, squeeze out sparks of light

In terms of message and delivery, you simply can't beat "I feel like I'm slowly, slowly, slowly slippin' under."

Has anyone mentioned how the music around the lyrics really ups their emotional intensity?  That really elevates the Stay and Streets lyrics for me.   :)

I just realized yesterday that this whole verse is genius...

In New York I lost it all
To you and your vices
Still I'm staying on to figure out
A midlife crisis
I hit an iceberg in my life
You know I'm still afloat
You lose your palace, lose your wife
In the queue for the lifeboats
You gotta put the women and children first
But you're got an unquenchable thirst for New York

I've always loved "Chance is a kind of religion/where you're damned for plain hard luck."

I don't know -- it's so Dylanesque!
