this is kinda of a quirky one but i always loved it
Life through a window
Discoloured pain
Mrs Brown's washing is always the same
I walk the street rain tragicomedy
I'll walk home again to the street melody
One of my all time U2 favorites as well. Good to see it get mentioned.

Kingdoms rise and Kingdoms fall but you go on and on.
Roman candle lightening lights up the sky. (classic 4th of July music).
Bullet the blue sky. (enough said)
66, the highway speaks, of deserts dry, of cool green valleys, gold and silver mines, bright shining cities.
Johnny take a walk with your sister the moon, let her pale light in, to fill up your room.
It looks like the sun, but if feels like the rain.
Get your head out of the mud baby.
Im a traffic cop, Rue du Marais, the sirens wailing but its me that wants to get away.
I was punching in the numbers, at the ATM machine.
I was speeding on the subway, through the stations of the cross.
From the womb, my first cry, it was a joyful noise.

"If we weren't so alike, you'd like me a whole lot more"
"Dressed up like a car crash, your wheels are turning but you're upside down"

I love all of "Pride (In The Name of Love)."
From "Yahweh":
Quote
Take these hands
Teach them what to carry
Take these hands
Don't make a fist
Take this mouth
So quick to criticise
Take this mouth
Give it a kiss
From "Running to Standstill":
Quote
You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice
And from "I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight":
Quote
Every generation gets a chance to change the world
Pity the nation that won’t listen to your boys and girls
‘Cos the sweetest melody is the one we haven’t heard
Is it true that perfect love drives out all fear
The right to appear ridiculous is something I hold dear
Oh, but a change of heart comes slow

"You gotta cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice,"
For my money the best line in any song. And the way it's delivered... phenomenal.

Oh, the deeper I spin
Oh, the hunter will sin for your ivory skin
Took a drive in the dirty rain
To a place where the wind calls your name
Under the trees the river laughing at you and me
Hallelujah, heavens white rose
The doors you open
I just can't close
...From "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses"
Love is clockworks
And cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel
Squeeze the handle
Blow out the candle
Love is blindness
... From "Love is Blindness"
Waves of regret and waves of joy
I reached out for the one I tried to destroy
... From "Until the End of the World"
Oh love...like a screaming flower
Love...dying every hour...love
You don't know if it's fear or desire
Danger the drug that takes you higher
Head in heaven, fingers in the mire
... From "So Cruel"
The next minute you're blowing a fuse
And the cartoon network turns into the news
... From "If God Will Send His Angels"
Your catholic blues
Your convent shoes
Your stick on tattoos
Now they're making the news
Your holy war
Your northern star
Your sermon on the mount
From the boot of your car
... From "Please"
I went drifting
Through the capitals of tin
Where men can't walk
Or freely talk
And sons turn their fathers in
I stopped outside a church house
Where the citizens like to sit
They say they want the kingdom
But they don't want God in it
... From "The Wanderer"
See the sun rise over her skin
She feels like water in my hand
Freeway like a river cuts through this land
Into the side of love
Like a burning spear
And the poison rain
Brings a flood of fear
Through the ghost-ranch hills
Death valley waters
In the towers of steel
Belief goes on and on
... From "Heartland"
I was there when they crucified my Lord
I held the scabbard when the soldier drew his sword
I threw the dice when they pierced his side
But I've seen love conquer the great divide
... From "When Love Comes to Town"

This last page on the thread is particularly impressive. Bono really is one of the greatest rock lyricists ever, and the few times when he has messed up cannot take that away.
"Throw a rock in the air / You're bound to hit someone guilty". This was mentioned here and I think it's one of the most powerful (well, most of "Dirty Day" is full of specially meaningful lines). 16 years further down the road and we're able to find the company for these verses on lines like "Now the wolves are every passing stranger" and "Where might we find the lamb as white as snow". Innocence is the rarest of things.

The lyrics on the new album totally blow me away. I do not like stadium tours, but I have decided to go and see them for the 3 in Dublin because of my love of the album and songs. The lyrics are so deep. But, one that keeps on sticking in my head are
I was right there at the top of the bottom
On the edge of the known universe
Where I wanted to be
I had driven to the scene of the accident
And I sat there waiting for me
Plus, the line that says, 'God is love.. and evolution is love's best day' (something like that). moving.
Can't wait to see them again and hear Bono sing the amazing lyrics from this album.

I wanna run, I want to hide I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside I want to reach out and touch the flame
Through the storm, we reach the shore You give it all but I want more And I'm waiting for you
You broke the bonds And you loosened the chains Carried the cross of all my shame All my shame, you know I believe it.
You say you want your love to work out right To last with me through the night.
Six o'clock in the morning You're the last to hear the warning You been tryin' to throw your arms around the world
One love, one blood One life, you got to do what you should One life with each other: sisters, brothers One life, but we're not the same We get to carry each other
Sometimes I feel like I don't know Sometimes I feel like checking out I wanna get it wrong Can't always be strong
And love it won't be long ...
