My favorite is the final verse  :)

Yep. Last verse is the best.

"I hit an iceberg in my life
You know I'm still afloat
You lose your palace, lose your wife
In the queue for the lifeboat
You gotta put the women and children first
But you've got an unquenchable thirst for New York."

Love the play on words...

The way I see it is, this character has come to New York with his family and fallen in love with the place. He's come to settle down ("hit an iceberg in my life") and the family is "still afloat" with money from the job he quit to move to New York. He loses his "palace" and his wife when the family becomes disenchanted with New York City and wants to leave- they're waiting on something to bail them out of the situation, a "lifeboat." The character knows he should put his wife and children first, but he's so in love with the city that he can't leave now.

The play on words is that it's all a reference to the Titanic as well as having a deeper meaning. ;D

Good memory. Had forgotten how Hands that Built America is a great song. Love the part when Luciano's singing

To stare and not be stared at
To look and not be seen
To feel new feelings
Rather than understand where you've just been

Edit- Also...

I'm a sinner, you're the holy child
But your secret heart is a savage scratching at my door
And your lips of blood have me screaming out
For more and more

I prefer the finished version of WGRYWH, but these lines are so evocative...

"He turns his money into light to look for her"

"Just a bang and a clatter as an angel hits the ground"

"She runs through the streets with eyes painted red, under black belly of a cloud in the rain."

I do love the lyrics in Bad
"If I could throw this lifeless lifeline to the wind, leave this heart of clay, see you walk, walk away [...] If I could through myself, set your spirit free, lead your heart away, see you break, break away"
I think they're heartbreaking, they do express the feeling of someone trying to help another person, but without managing it. Moreover, I love when, in the live acts, he adds "Not fade away". It's a desperate cry, a sort of answer, from the one who's trying to help to the one in need.
Of course, I do love the lyrics in One (who doesn't?).
I think it's fantastic also the line in Beautiful day "What you don't have, you don't need it now. What you don't know, you can feel it somehow". It gives me the strenght to hold on.
And finally, the words of Mothers of the Disappeared, One step closer and Miracle drug, which make me cry everytime.

I have "It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away" painted on my wall. It's kinda overused now, but when you really think about the meaning of it, seeing the beauty in everything, not letting it escape, I really like it

In Summer I can taste the salt of the sea, there's a kite blowing out of control on the breeze, I wonder what's gonna happen to you, you wonder what has happened to me
