I am trying to find the origin of this quote...

“You don't become an 'artist' unless you've got something missing somewhere. Blaise Pascal called it a God-shaped hole. Everyone's got one but some are blacker and wider than others. It's a feeling of being abandoned, cut adrift in space and time–sometimes following the loss of a loved one. You can never completely fill that hole–you can try with songs, family, faith and by living a full life... but when things are silent, you can still hear the hissing of what's missing.”
—Bono

Any ideas?

I am very excited that I found the answer for you Cheesy It's in U2 by U2. Don't know what page, but here's a quote from a blog I found

"Calling it the, “God-shaped hole,” in the book U2 by U2, Bono describes it as something that everyone of us has, “Some are just blacker and wider than others.” Explaining that it’s a feeling of being abandoned, cut adrift in space and time, he says, “I don’t think you can ever completely fill it in this life. You can try … but when things are silent you can still hear the hissing of whats missing.”"

I am thinking I should follow in Zooey's footsteps and start running again. It's been too long Shocked

I am jumping on this bandwagon! I miss running terribly, but have lacked the motivation to actually get off my rump and do it.

I am saying, don't be impressed, I hate the first three miles of every run. After that the endorphines kick in and it is awesome!  But up until that it's pure misery.

Most do because most never go long enough to get to that "euphoria point"

I am crazy enough to keep going until I get there because it's *so* worth it! Kind of like the long wait for a spot in the pit.  Grin

I am wondering what the "euphoria point" feels like?
