I know it's a different thread ("what are you giving up for Lent?") - what I am giving up for Lent is NOT tracking my daily eating/exercise in Weight Watchers. I am taking this April 21 5K very seriously ( :o ) and every ounce I can lose between now and then is one less ounce to carry along for the run! It will be nice to see my weight going down in the next 40 days.

I realize it's a bit over the top...but my dream is to run the Paris Marathon in April 2013 with my son if he graduates from college this December...now wouldn't that be amazing? Maybe next spring we can get together for a virtual Paris marathon! Or better still a real one.
i so hear you about that ww thing!  i should follow your lead with the whole lent thing... i haven't been tracking consistently at all...  (and it would prob really help if i also gave up pretzels for lent while i'm at it... ::)

the paris marathon?  wow!  awesome dream!  hope you get there :)

and inish, BSS is right - take time to take care of yourself :)

It's official.  I'm signed up for the Chicago Marathon - and will be signed up for the New York Marathon if everything goes to plan by the end of the week.   :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
misty, that's awesome!  when is the chicago one?

in honor of 'fat tuesday,' i ran/walked 2 miles... (pales in comparison, doesn't it?  :D )  if i actually keep running after this april's 5K... maybe you'll have to come run the pittsburgh marathon with me someday?  ;D  there are enough runners on this thread, we could field a team 8)

I agree!  Please, keep us posted.
We'd just need to pick the race.. what do y'all think?
Let's do it!  Seriously; it's a good cause, good for my health, and a good excuse to travel.
it would keep me on track with the running, for sure!  and yeah, it would need to be 2013 at this point.  not sure what my travel allowance will be (did i mention there's a marathon in pittsburgh every may?  ;) :D )
I'M IN - LET'S PICK A RACE AND DO THIS!  I designed a t-shirt for my race Saturday and they came in yesterday.  Check it out on my facebook.

Thanks Misty, I will.  It's raining outside anyway.  Plus, now my eye is inflamed.  February is not my month.  Last year, I was sick through most of it.  This year, some warm days and pollen.  Does not give me a break.

P.S.  Coach Mullen does give us time off for being sick.

I did get in my walk, at the local mall.  Not a brisk one like I do outdoors.  But, it still counts as exercise.  At least, I hope it does.

My hubby bought me some allergie eye drops.  It seems to be helping with the redness and itching.  He told me, if these do not work.  I am seeing our DR. ASAP!  I don't have an infection, just some itching, burning and redness.  The drops are soothing and seem to be helping so far.  The Mid-Atlantic region has had some very warm days, which is unusual for us during February.  We usually expect some snow.

That unseasonable weather seems to discombobulate everyone!  It's been a little warmer than usual for us out west, too.  Things have been pretty dry, so there goes that special sky weekend!

I've finished a week running work outs without any re-aggravation to Captain Sensitive Groin.  I'm really enjoying my interval workouts because I get to have a break before I get too sloppy with my "running form."  That means I should be in good shape to take a nice hike with the dog on Sunday...as long as that unusually warm weather holds up!

Even though I accidentally wrote "2-25-11" on the check, it's now official: I will be running in that 5k on April 21st.  This will be my first 5k since October and the first 5k that I am consciously preparing for.  I've always just assumed that my weekly workouts would make me ready enough, and I've always been disappointed with myself on race day.  It will also be my first race without the competitive participation of husband in over 2 years.  Knowing that he'll be waiting at the finish line just for me (and not because he finished fifteen minutes before me) will be nice.  Hooray!

Woah! Well done Misty - that's like half an hour faster than I did mine!!!
*bows at mighty Misty*

 ;D

Knee's still crappy - not as bad as it used to be, but I'm still avoiding any unnecessary walking, over 100 meters in distance. Seeing a Dr next week...

Seal Beach??? I used to live in Long Beach & loved Seal Beach....went there all the time!
Ah, if I could only walk on that sand...what a lovely place to live...although I do love my mountains up here & the streams and lakes but Seal Beach is so nice. Good luck on the race. Also, i remember the Grunion Newspaper and Grunion run... ;)

I almost live in Long Beach!  If you know the name of the little city completely surrounded by Long Beach, then you've got me all figured out! ;)  The Grunion is still around, but I haven't made it to a Grunion Run in a few years.  I'd never even heard of the little suckers before I moved to Southern California.  I'm pretty sure we were the oldest people at the Grunion Runs who squealed with delight, but what's not to love about fish hanging out in the sand?

A friend posted a link to this article today on Facebook; it's 6 Workout Mistakes that Slow Down Results.  Some of could be old hat to the pros on this thread, but it gave me some new ideas for my run tonight.  Shoulders back, head up!
