Thanks Blue and I do believe in Karma.

I have been walking and getting some painting done around the house.  My left shoulder was sore last night, but today it is fine.  It was sore from painting a ceiling and old age!  Ha, ha.

Hey y'all, I found our beloved thread on PAGE TWO!!!!!  :'(

Nice to see that Jab and Jo and Misty and Inish and BSS have been in here fairly recently though.  Is everyone getting ready for their group run on April 21st (that's the day we're all running together in spirit, right?)?

Jab, I saw that on fb this morning, in fact - love it!  I posted one of the "some ecards" pics yesterday that says "In case you were wondering, if you're on the treadmill next to me, YES we're racing."   :D

Good news: My hip is almost totally better, and my IT band is not actnig up on the short runs I've been doing (3-4 miles) as long as I stretch really well before and after and then a couple hours later.

Bad news: the mountain bike fall is still bothering my knee - in fact, I may have it x-ray'd. I think I may have chipped the bone or something - it's still very tender and there's a big bump still and, strangely enough, if I put a hand on each knee, the injured one feels warmer than the other one.  Is that weird?

But other than that, PT has been going well.  I did a triathlon on Sunday - totally didn't train for it as I've been "out" most of the month with the injury.  But I completed it - a great bike time and pretty miserable swim and run times. But I didn't really care about my times. I was just glad to be doing it.  I was thinking it might be my last, but then I looked at my standings for that particular race.  The first time i did it I was about 130 out of 225 women.  Then I got as high as 57th!  This weekend I was 86th (boooo!!!!). So I'm thinking I might do it ONE MORE TIME (in October) to try to get back into the 50s again (go out with a bang instead of a whimper)..  Thinking new lighter weight handlebars for my bike might be in my future too   ;D

In other news, I just signed up Mr. Z and I for the Warrior Dash - it's one of these crazy mud run type things  3.2 miles with 12 obstacles (climbing walls, busted up cars, a forest of old tires on ropes, etc) the last of which are a fire pit you have to run thru/jump over and then a mud pit covered in barbed wire.  I'm really excited and a little daunted.  But at the finish line you get a free tee shirt, a medal AND A VIKING HELMET!!!!!  Here's the link if you're interested - the map on this page shows each of the obstacles if you click on them: http://warriordash.com/register2012_arizona.php

And finally, I'm back on track to do the Bay to Breakers in May. I lost a month of training so I'm back to 4ish mile runs but I'm hoping to hit 5 miles on Sunday and quickly build up from there.

I know that's a crazy long post - I miss you guys - hope you're all doing well - staying healthy - getting out there.  Let us know what you're up to!

Wondered how you were doing, zooey, good to hear from you!  Glad things are going well (and they are going well, even if your times aren't where you'd like them to be.)  Hope everything heals OK.  And that mud run sounds awesome!  I'm guessing there may be a beer or two in addition to the viking helmet at the end?

I'm still up for our virtual run!  Looking forward to it!  Daughter and I plan to do the Bolder Boulder again on Memorial Day.  Last year I had never run any race, so was scared that I may not finish.  Now that I know I can finish, I'd like to do a little faster than last year!  It's addicting, isn't it?

Mud runs sound so cool! I think by the time summer rolls around, I'll be feeling confident enough to tackle a 5k AND obstacles. For now, I've still got my eyes on the April 21st prize.  ;D  My workout routine has been consistent, but there's a little more pain this week than I'd like.  And next week I'll be missing two of my runs because I'm taking some students up north to see colleges in the other half of the state.  I'm thinking I may organize some pre-wake up call jaunts with those groggy teens.  ;)

Zooey!!! ;D
Glad you're on the mend!
I'm presently cramming to prepare for the 21st (still battling inconsistency here). Right now, I'm in week 3 of a 9-week training, with less than 4 weeks til race day... That means I'm bumping up my time and distance every other run, instead of the prescribed 'every 3rd run'
I feel like my breathing & heart rate are comfortable, but dude- my legs still need a lot of conditioning before the race!
*makes a note to track down zooey's fb page* ;)

Lj- awesome you're running in boulder again!
BSS- hope that pain subsides... And I'm totally for dragging the teens out of bed for a run! :D

Yikes, seeing that check reminded me I actually have to get registered for my 5K run on April 21. I am up to 2 miles...huffing and puffing. But I'm pretty sure I can do it.

Other than that haven't checked in for a while - good to read up on everyone's news.

Attempting a 5 mile run Sunday morning.  Fingers crossed, ladies, that none of my recent injuries are aggrivated by this.  (Did I spell aggrivate correctly?)

5 miles was a SUCCESS!!!! I did walk 3 times just for a few seconds, maybe a minute tops.  It was 2.5 miles uphill and 2.5 miles down.  On the down, I had to stop for a minute to stretch my calves.  and my IT band is a little sore today. But over all, it felt really good!  Bay to Breakers, here I come!

My very creepy-looking Boy era re-print t-shirt arrived yesterday.  It'll be my official gear on 4/21 race day.  The good news is that I'll be easy to spot for photos from the sidelines.  ;D

Today's my first 30-minute run in about three months.  I've been building up slowly, with some pain free days and some bad ones.  I was definitely the most in shape of the chaperones on the college trip we just finished; those hilly Northern California campuses are not for couch potatoes!  That bought me some street cred with my few students who are not obsessed with Hot Cheetos and excessive napping.  :P

Happy moving to all.
