Started off Thanksgiving Day by "running" (slowly) a Turkey Trot 5K sponsored by my daughter's cross country team.  They thought about 100 people might show up, and 400 were there!  A lot of them ran the family one mile run, and it was cool to see all the little kids running and having fun.

That's a great way to kick off our big eating holiday: with real exercise!  Good job, LJ!

I've got some pretty bad foot pain that goes away between runs, so I'm really hoping that the arrival of my new shoes (I had to order them) can fix it. Naturally, my husband who doesn't even care about shoes found exactly the pair he needed in his size without having to order them  ::)! 7-10 business days is rough.

oh oh . . . .thread slips to page 2  ;)

just an FYI. . . .

Misty is running another marathon - this one in Memphis - tomorrow.  She gets to run by Sun Studios and saw the hill that the boys slide down in that scene from Rattle and Hum!  Keep her in your thoughts, if you would!  She's running for St Jude hospital - and her son spent a lot of time in hospital in Memphis too (not St Jude's though).

thanks everyone!
 :)

So after a long (probably too long) break I actually ran yesterday. It was only 3 miles (hangs head in shame) but hey, it's a start!

Hey gang!  Hope all of you are well.  I have been sick throughout the holidays and will have to give coach Mullen my sick note.......lol.   But, as soon as I an well enough.  I will be walking.  I promise!  I really want to lose a little weight.  Ten to twelve pounds would be ideal.  I worry about with getting older, the chances of being on diabetic meds.  So, of course I want to be lean.  Weight is an issue with Type 2.  Please, wish me luck!

Yay, dream, for getting back out there! I need to kick myself back into a routine, too.

Inish- best of luck with your exercise & weight loss this year! :)

My goal is to be consistent this year... And to run no less than every other day... And to track mileage for the year, because it seems fun :)

Happy new year to all!

Unfortunately, I'm starting the year with a new diagnosis: plantar fasciitis.  :-\ That means no running and very limited walking.  The good news is that I always get out to the gym three times a week to do the stationary bike (and I've been working up the resistance on that machine) plus some toning with weights.  The bad news is that I don't own a bicycle and I'm out of commission for our twice a week hill walks.  That means I'm down to 3 days/week of exercise instead of 5. More good news though: I can get away with wearing my super comfortable running shoes at work--even with formal dress--because of my poor foot.

In other news, my husband and I spent 8 hours standing on Saturday before and during a concert.  It was a great time, but I'm pretty sure that put my foot recovery back a few weeks  ;).

One of my resolutions for this year is to exercise more. Also, I am going to a Zumba class today, which should help start that!

OK, what we need is a tour anouncement to kick start us all.  I've been woefully slacking, although I did walk a midnight 5K on New Year's Eve/Day.  It was fun, but I definitely have to do better in 2013.  Good luck to all of us!

I've lost 10 pounds since Christmas through changing my diet.  Still another 25 pounds to go to reach my optimum weight, but I feel really positive about these changes and will not be slipping back to my old ways once I've lost the weight. :)

That's quite a bit! Good job, TD!!

Agreed LJ! I want to be in shape when Bono pulls me on stage and I do NOT want him hurting his back while doing so!!  :-*

Well, apparently he has tenuous links with Germany and Simon Cowell.
