Songs To End Encore
« on: December 06, 2008, 06:39:43 AM »
Well, there's usually a song on the new album that i think should do this, but what else in the catalogue could?

Kite
The Ground Beneath Her Feet (as played on the ATYCLB)
Walk On
Yahweh (as played on ... Bomb)
Mothers Of The Disappeared
Running To Stand Still followed tightly by She's A Mystery To Me
40

... are all the songs that spring to mind.

It'll always be 40 for me, Fly. I'll never get tired of it.

i would agree with 40.  no complaints about it's use.  in fact, if it is ever played it has to be at the end of the show.  anywhere else would be weird unless it was a snippet.  that being said, the Vertigo Tour occasional use of Bad as a finale was always a highlight for me.

I'm with the '40' vote although I always though 'Love is Blindness' worked well as well

Absolutely.  The best U2 show I ever saw ended with Bad and nothing else has ever compared to it.

I thought they always ended with 40. But I wasn't familiar with it at the time, so I don't remember when they sang it at my Vertigo show. Do they ever do it before the encore?

I liked Yahweh as the encore, but I wouldn't want them to do the same thing again. How about "Moment of Surrender"? (simply because it's 7 min. long.)

Moment Of Surrender will probably replace Bad/40. MOS will be the Bad of the 21st century.  ;)

Kite closed in Sydney and it was freaking awesome, but I'd like something from the new album.

If they were gonna go with an oldie, either Bad (with the 40 snippet) or Love Is Blindness.

At my only Vertigo show, they ended with Fast Cars. Would have been nice, if we had actually heard of it, and Bono didn't forget the lyrics. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

'40' works for me because it allows them to bow out one by one (apart from the fact its a great song)

I think they should just end the show with WTSHNN, imagine that... A giant flare of light illuminating the night then Bono's soaring vocals being the last of what you hear just sounds genius. I mean, 40 just puts in you in a trance like state rather than energizing you.
