And from NLOTH:

"Force quit and move to trash" - that's just embarassing.
"I got a submarine/you got gasoline" - point made, but still doesn't work.

Now that I've heard the new album all the way through a few times, I'd have to agree with the ones above.

Without having read the Bible, I think there is a line that says "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord" or something like that. I think he's singing the song to God, in the vein of "Gloria"

The whole "scent of a newborn baby's head", ruins miracle drug for me, which would probably be closer to a favorite of mine if it weren't there.

I also have to say that I'd probably like Wild Honey better if it didn't have the whole "I was a monkey" line wasn't there too, although the whole pop-ness of that song bothers me, although I would quit skipping it.

I'm so with you on Miracle Drug.

Also, 'I want to lot of what you got, and I want nothing that you're not' ruins the brilliance of Original of the Species.

It doesn't even make sense...

"I WANT THE LOT OF WHAT YOU GOT"   everything you are

"I WANT NOTHING THAT YOU'RE NOT"    everything you aren't

Still a great song.  Maybe the best on Bomb, in my opinion.

"I'll go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight" doesn't seem to fit the song at all.

Love the tune and the rest of the lyrics.

Well, I haven't decided on this. But, "Laughter is eternity - if joy is real" What exactly does that mean? I like the sound of it...but does it make sense?  :-[

I think he's trying to get across the message that if your joy is real ('joy' being a different kind of happiness that comes only from God, 'real' being not falsely produced by your own self) then laughter is eternity, referring to Heaven and the unending laughter (joy, happiness, whatever) that will be there. So, yeah, I think it makes sense, and in a beautiful 'good pictures in my mind' kind of way. If God's given me joy, I will have it for eternity...

Redundancy factor!

The part in "I Will Follow" "I was blind, I could not see" throws me off a bit.

I love that line from Wake Up Dead Man. Bono rarely swears on albums, so when he does it is of great significance. I find it evocative and powerful.

I agree. It's such a desolate song. Try saying "and a messed up/screwed up world it is too."
Doesn't work, does it?

But I have to say, even though WUDM is my favourite closing U2 song and is on my favourite U2 album, there is one line in it that always makes me cringe:

"Your father, he built the world in seven, now he's in charge of heaven..."  :'(

There was one in ATYCLB that didn't bug me until a friend told me it bothered her.

From In a Little While

"Ooh, when I saw her in a pram they pushed her by!" To my friend, it sounded like Bono already fancied Ali when she was still in a pram. I didn't hear it that way at all in the beginning, but now, thanks to her...
