All I Want is You

bonogirl:
I'd like to know you'r thoughts on this song.......
I think it's about, a woman and God. After all, do we very often know our better half from the cradle to the grave?

Bonogirl

God, Part II:
It has about three minutes of orchestral score...what's not to love?

bonogirl:
Wow! That was quick.....and you'r right, it is an absolutely beautiful song....

StrongGirl:
It really is a beauty, bonogirl. I think I mentioned in another thread that it was on the list of top rock n roll love songs of all time. I forget what position it had but it was high up on the chart.

u2yooper:
I never thought of as being about God.  just a man and the woman he loves.  I think he's referring to all  the various promises we make in our lifetime.  I think it's clearly from Bono to his wife.  "You say you want your story to remain untold...'  His wife has always seemed a very private person.  He has never given out much info about their relationship in interviews.  I remember a very old interview from the early 80's, when a reporter asked him something about his sex life, and he just did a double take, and said, "I'm not talking about that to you!"  Even though I think it's written for a specific person, like their best songs, it's universal.
