There are a few options: 1) The war plane. 2) Inclusion of the audience/public as a part of the overall entity of the band. 3) Funny play on letter-number/words.

It doesn't really mean anything i think that's the point. it didn't pigeon hole the band to any scene or musical style .

It means 'You Too', but they could make the letters bigger and still fit it on a collector's pin.

I would think that the name has something to do with this plane, being that a lot of their music has to do with war.

It's means, Greatest Band Ever in Latin.  I like it!  Lol, i forgot i said that. i think i had a bottle o scotch that night...but scotch or vodka, i speak the truth. Greatest Band for certain.

I think it was named after a sort of plane. I went to an air and space museum in april in virginia somewhere and they had a coffee mug with a picture of a plane and it said U2 on the bottom. i wanted to get it so badly but the lady kicked us out of the store cuz we were all playing with the toys
