I'm REALLY diggin' the Daniel Lanios Mix of ASOHC as well as Dissapering Act and Yoshino Blossom.

The Daniel Lanois Mix and Disappearing Act are my two favorites right now.

I'm digging the Lanois mix too, but I see why U2 chose the album version.

The album version is better of ASOH but what I like about the remit is the guitar presence. The rhythmic strumming behind the verse sounds so good. That song is so simple in construction but yet the way it was mixed always blows me away! I alsp think ASOH holds Bonos best lyrics at the time. So well put together!

Does anyone know if those vocals from Peter Gabriel were recorded back in '84 or if they are new vocals?

I'm pretty certain those are from '84 but I can double check.

If I check the UF booklet and Wikipedia right, the band wanted to re-record ASOHC and Lanios saw the oppotunity of making a "radio-friendly" version of the song, hence the song's un-ambiant and songy feel. During this time Lanios was working with Peter Gabriel on his "So" album in 1985 at Bath, England, so I assume that Gabriel heard the mix and added his vocals on it.
So yeah, I think it's safe to say they're not newly recorded vocals.

Okay, good! New vocals are alright, but I prefer original recordings.

The remaster is amazing!
Yoshino Blossom has one of the nastiest guitar sounds Edge has made in the beginning of it.
And I've never heard boomerang I or II before, both are good.
I also am loving the better version of TUF, and the Wire remixes

I know! It almost rips your ear in two just hearing it. I believe Edge used an E-bow to make that insane sound. For those who don't know, an E-bow is a device that makes the guitar strings viberate, thereby making crazy "gliding" sounds when the guitarist plays with it. I believe you can see Brain Eno messing around with Edge's guitar with one of them in TUF documentary. Also Edge plays one during "With Or Without You" in the Zoo TV Sydney DVD. It's a very awesome device and someday if I play guitar right, I'd like to use one.
Btw,
I made a new topic!
(Note on how I call it "Appreciation" thread, not a "Worship" one)

Another UF question:
Which UF B-Side, from both the original album or the remaster, would you want U2 to at least attempt to play during the 3rd leg of the 360 Tour?
While I know that most of the B-Sides are just outtakes that I'm pretty sure the band just can't translate live, I'd give mad props if the band at least attempt playing "The Three Sunrises" and "Promenade". I can also see the Danial Lanios Remix of ASOHC recieve the live treatment. Imagine Peter Gabriel coming on stage to preform the song with the band.

The Three Sunrises would be great! Drop Elevation for that. I can see Promenade segueing into another song. Not sure which one though.

Even though I don't believe it would fit in well in the tour, I would LOVE to hear "Disappearing Act" live at some point. There is just something about the song ....
