Dallas is only like uh...five hours away.  For a cover band, no.  But Dallas is probably where I will have to go to see the actual U2 whenever they tour again.

There's a dallas U2 tribute band?!? i live off 75/Nw Hwy so i will for SURE be there........Allegra is this a DALLAS cover band or a touring one? I know Dallas has a few Beatles, Tom Petty, Kiss, Weezer <well they haven't played in years anyways> cover bands but i don't think a U2 one would of gotten past me.

Right now they are only playing in Austin, Dallas, and Wichita Falls.

The only Dallas based U2 tribute band (really cover band) is called Blood Red Sky.  They're pretty good, and you can find them here...

Anyway, Myterious Ways is based out of Austin.  They had their first show in Dallas only about a month ago, but have been a U2 tribute band for over a year.  And I was pleasantly surprised...they were pretty good too!  They also have a cool video screen behind them to go with the music kind of like U2 did for the Vertigo tour.  They were very professional.

I'll see you at the Jackula Ball!

wait.....whats the difference between a cover and a tribute band? Does cover = note for note cover songs and tribute = their own style put over an exsisting U2 song....? i'm so confused. I always thought it was the same thing.

It's exactly the opposite.

Tribute bands mostly dress up the part of the real band members, and they play the songs as close to the real thing as possible.

Cover bands just simply cover the songs and may not dress the part.  Basically, they aren't trying to be the real thing and may add their own spin on the tunes.
