What once was hurt....what one was friction....what let a mark no longer stains...Cuz Grace makes beauty out of ugly things.

I get chills every time I hear that.

Discothèque: 4:23

Oh so close, but I prefer 4:32. ;)
Unknown Caller is right; 4:32 is the best. :)

Other good "Discotheque" moments are:

0:40
1:57
2:40

This is the best U2 song! :)

Ah, but the "boom cha"s just aren't the same without the buildup to them. ;D

Also:

Beautiful Day: 0:56, 2:14, 2:43, 3:17

Walk On: 0:21, 2:35, 3:11, 3:58

Feeling ATYCLB-ish today.

In SBS from Under a Blood Red Sky, around 3:17, Edge makes his guitar sound like drums.  I am in awe of his talent, and the effect is perfect for the song.

0:12 on Mofo when the heavy percussion kicks in - I always turn up the volume at that section, especially if I am driving on the highway.

Howbout from 5:15 til about 5:25 or so in Unknown Caller. That part of the solo is just epic, and the instruments get louder in the seconds before it. Oh, pure magic.

I don't know about you guys, but the first time I heard Moment of surrender, and bono's vocals kicked in with the "
I tied myself with wire", i nearly jumped out of my chair! It almost scared me, and I had to go back and replay that part to make sure it wasn't just some scary instrument. My favorite 2 seconds of singing from bono!

Me too. I remember listening to MOS for the first time (well it wasn't so long ago  :D ) and I also got scared a bit, but I like the whole mood of that song.

There are too many good moments.  This one is probably not the best but something that really stands out to me...

During If God Will Send His Angels, after the first chorus when the patented ringing Edge guitar riff comes in - it is really a great moment.  When I listened to the first three songs of POP, I am taken in a musical nightmare where U2 are trying to sound like Chemical Brothers, Beck, or Prodigy - I forget that they are U2.  Then lost amidst the madness comes this riff that reminds me that U2 are still U2.  Then it is followed up with the infectious Staring At The Sun - and the album reaches its highest point.  Then it starts going downhill again to the point of being forgettable and not something worth listening to live in tours after POPMart.

So yes, the kicking in of the Edge's guitars in If God Will Send His Angels is definitely one of their best moments.

Cheers,

J
