I thought they were. The sounded pretty much like the record when I saw them in DC a year or two ago. It's hard to be an opening band though... everything is set up for the headliner. I've heard bands that I thought were fantastic open, and sound terrible!
On U2's level, of course, everything is top notch... so they are probably alright!
