We are people born of sound

« on: June 29, 2009, 11:45:25 PM »

I'm just gonna say it:

Where in God's name is FEZ? This would be a near-perfect encore opener in my humble opinion. Or, perhaps, imagine the explosive power of the FEZ-Being Born/ Ultraviolet combo...oh my God! There is so much raw energy in this song...I think it would translate fantastically to a stadium setting...ESPECIALLY with the kind of lighting and effects we can expect with the Claw.

It took me a very long time to get into this song...but now that I'm in it...I'm absolutely lost in it. It is gloriously reminiscent of the very best of Zooropa and Pop, and would help project the "U2 still has that creative, innovative, mind-numbing genius" attitude they (I believe) are trying to capture with this tour.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Might it make an appearance later in the tour?

BTW...don't get me wrong, I am tremendously impressed by the setlist the band seems to have settled on...this is just my simple suggestion to make it even more perfect.

I'm also quite fond of Being Born and would be even go as far as suggesting that it could work as an opening song. Band take to the stage as a tape of Fez is playing and then launch into Being Born.

along with breathe the best song on the album. Travesty they are playing Crazy tonight (albeit a remix?) and not this.

I definitely think that before 360 is over, we'll see Fez.  If I remember correctly, some of "HTDAAB" didn't come around until later in the tour.

Yeah, although by late in the tour (and I mean the very end few shows in Aus/NZ/Japan/Hawaii) the number of HTDAAB songs in the show had dropped dramatically. I think (and this is from memory, so might be wrong) on the 2nd Auckland show they only played Vertigo, COBL and Sometimes You Can't Make It.

Off topic I know, but always sad that Original of the Species, IMO the best song on the album, didn't get played much. Luckily it made it to the Chicagee DVD.

Back on topic...

FEZ... surely it's a better 'interlude/enterlude' song than a remix of Crazy tonight  Huh Huh Huh

Yea it's a little scary when a band is already pumping remixes without playing the song live (take away the Promo tour). As much as my wife loves this song, I'd trade it out for Fez in an instant. Not going to happen with them about to release it though.  Undecided

No I really don't see this song getting played that much/if at all.
I would much rather hear Stand Up Comedy, they spent like six months on it, why won't they play it???

i'm in the minority on this one and got a lot of heat on another board...

i like it on the cd, but i cannot imagine it played in concert.

there are 7 songs (the first six and breathe) that are going to have preference.  if they are going to bring on an 8th, it will be stand up comedy before fez.

It was rightfully omitted live and will probably never be played.  Maybe Stand Up Comedy will sometime on tour.

Cheers,

I agree 100%.  this song has become one of my favorites and I think it would be awesome live.  I'm not holding my breath but would like to see it get picked up somewhere along the way.

I think there is a possibility that Fez/Being Born will see a live performance at around the time Songs of Ascent gets released.... It will probably fit in better with that material.
