I think Grace isn't the worst but mainly because- sorry, SG!- it's dull and forgettable rather than actively offensive to the ears.  ;)

1. Love Rescue Me
2. Miami
3. One Step Closer
4. The Playboy Mansion
5. So Cruel

So hard to find 5 songs I really don't care for. Bottomline is that the above 5 get skipped when they cone up on the Ipod. Other than the above, I rarely skip. If there was a 6th sing it would be everyones nonfavotite (Elvis Presley blah blah blah).

Bullet the Blue Sky

Bono has been clear in stating that he deliberately wrote the song to present the "dark side" of America. I don't mind the politics of the song, in fact I share most of Bono's beliefs, but I think it's completely out of place on what is otherwise a beautiful and majestic album, one of the best of all time (by any artist).

Interesting...why would a song directly about America not be in the right place on an album inspired by America? :-\

Sorry about the typing.  I was holding my two year old at the time.  Looks like it was typed while wearing a blindfold..  ???

Have you caught Boots live yet?  Sounds like Boots haters are changing their mind after hearing it live. Same goes for Unknown Caller.

With A Shout - Cheesy horns and the one case where I think Bono's religion has made his lyrics worse rather than better.  Even the Edge says he could happily never hear it again.

Love Rescue Me - Just a plodding, lethargic song that doesn't sound like U2 at all, if such a statement can be made.

I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight - I normally disagree with all the people who say U2 just make sloppy, platitude-filled, feel-good music.  However, on this one they're 100% right.  This is everything U2 normally isn't but gets accused of being.  And what is with Bono's "oh"s at the end?  It sounds like they took a longer recording and cut off the first part, it sounds so abrupt.

Trevor - Of all their early demos, this one just seems to have no reason to be.  Edge's backing vocals are about as generic as they've ever been.

Freedom For My People - Yeah, not an actual U2 song but it's on a U2 album.  I know U2 were immersing themselves in the south, in roots and blues, and that black history is intimately involved in all that, but hearing this in the middle of the album is so freakin' awkward.

For all those Love Rescue Me haters out there........ I have a suggestion.

Listen to (any) bootleg from the 1989 Dublin Point Depot shows. Then come back and give me an example of a song where Bono sings with more passion.

I said any for the Dublin shows, but the one from the 26th December is my favorite version - simply brilliant, just listen to vocals at the end of the song! The definitive version of a song that I love.

I will defend Grace until the day I die!!!   :P :D   NOT the worst.

It wasn't on my worst list, but I am intrigued by your strong support of Grace.  Unfortunately the line from that song that always sticks in my head is one that I find very annoying - "Grace it's a name for girl" - and I know nothing is perfect but that drags the whole song down for me.  If you can defend that line I would be interested to read it.  Maybe you could talk me into liking the song.  :)

My wife and I just recently lost a baby, she was only 3 months pregnant so we did not know the sex. It was to be our first.  If we were to have had a girl, she would have been named Grace, after one of my favorite U2 songs. I guess Ill defend this song and it's lyrics. Different songs mean different things to different people!
