I think its a comment on what was going on - it would be perceived as being 'Rebel' because the two views were so extreme that daring to debate each view instantly landed the song in either camp. So no win - but I reckon they knew that would be the case...

For me SBS is not a rebel song but a song about Peace ! but unfortunatly misundertood in the 80's may be due to the music, but it's a song against the terrorist, against violence

another song about Peace and against terrorism is Peace on Earth on ATYCLB but this song seems to be unnoticed I think, may be due to the music too...
but the lyrics are also strong in this title (about Omagh bombing)
