Okay this section, the lyrics read:

"Like the preacher needs pain
Like tongues of flame
Like a blind mans cane"

It sounds nothing like, a blind mans cane, it sounds like sheet stain? Is this a lyric error or does this post belong on the mysterious whale thread?

Well, lots of times the lyric booklet will be printed before a band is finished recording, so Bono probably just changed the lyric (as he so often does Cheesy) after the booklet was already printed.
