They're playing France, Germany and Spain again- the UK is the logical other country to play again!

But c'mon, U2! Your hometown loves you! PLAY IRELAND!

UK = Biggest and popular music scene in Europe.
IRE = Hometown of U2.

MAKE SOME SENSE OF IT PRINCIPLE MANAGEMENT!

This seems to be a far from complete schedule. There is easily room in the summer months for another North American tour (June-July) with a break allowing the band to travel across the Atlantic. OR more European dates in the early summer that just haven't been nailed down yet.

As for Principles Management/Live Nation wanting to wring every possible dollar of revenue out of the tour, that's absolutely true. Paul McG said the tour, which is costing $750k per date, won't approach breakeven until the final dates of 2009. Suppose they don't cover their costs for 2009, which is a logical assumption given that some of the later dates are far from sold out, then they will have to either raise ticket prices or play more dates in 2010.

By contrast, Vertigo cost $250k a night for a tour that went on more than two years, and they netted about $100 million after the tour was over.

I want them to come late, because the later, the earlier it'll be dark!

Also, if they came to Ireland for a homecoming 'finale' after the Portugal show- or indeed, came to the UK after Portugal, I'd explode. Because that would be my birthday! I realise they'll probably just slot it in during a gap but... still!

No show in Oslo.  The Valle Hovin rink isn't suitable for the 360 layout because it doesn't have 360 seating, ditto for baseball stadiums on the North American tour.  I also suspect there will be no more shows in the UK and Ireland since it took a long time to sell out the shows in the UK this year and demand has already been met.

But they sold out the first two Dublin gigs almost instantaneously, it's their hometown, and they just had the fourth highest grossing stint there of any band at any venue EVER!

True they sold an awful lot of tickets for Croke Park and on the Vertigo tour also so demand has probably been met.

You don't know U2 in Dublin. There is absoloutely no chance at all they don't sell out two Dublin gigs. Maybe downgrade it to Lansdowne instead of Croker, but even so- demand has most certainly not been met!

Even IF demand hasn't been met in Dublin City they have already played 3 shows there so far and they have many other cities in Europe yet to play on a tour where I suspect there will be less than 100 dates.  U2 are a world famous band on a WORLD tour.

The third date in Dublin wasn't sold out, you could buy a ticket for less than face value. I don't see a problem with not playing in the UK/Ireland , they are playing in so many holiday destinations that if you are planning a holiday just plan around a date of your choice, it's a lot more fun going to a show in a foreign country !

The third date in Ireland did officially sell out in the end actually. And the reason Ireland is so different to other places which didn't get a date yet is obvious- it's their hometown, fans travel from around the world to see them there, and they are on fire each and every time they come.

As for the UK- well, they're doing more dates in France, Germany and Spain- the UK is the logical counterpart to those countries- if anything, it's even bigger musically.
