I meant other cities... Hoping they will play in Sofia as well

otherwise I think Athens will be a good show... the fans are mad and the venue is perfect for concerts

What makes you say that? I'm Greek and the heat is already rising in Greece about the concert. It's all around the TV and the inetrnet but as far as I know Greeks as concert attendees,I do not believe that there is a chance that they play a second gig in Athens.

Since this is a world tour I think U2 should spread themselves thinly and try to play shows in as many cities around the world as possible.  They have already played 8 shows in the UK and Ireland to 575,000 people why should they play anymore?  There are more cities in central and eastern Europe to play not to mention latin America, Australia and what about Japan, India, south east Asia and south Africa.

They scheduled 03 Sept in Athens & 06 in Konstantinoupoli. 04 Sept is Saturday and it's an empty date. The gig will soldout in what? 2-3 days max?
In Thessaloniki in 1997 there were up to 70.000 people. People from Balkans will come as well as from Italy and close countries.
I believe, or at least i want to believe, that Saturday is an empty date for that possibility, the 2nd date.

Why should they play anymore? Because Ireland's their hometown, the UK and Ireland are where they first hit it big and they're still some of the biggest and most loyal markets for U2 in the world. There weren't a lot of places where "Go Crazy" was a top ten hit!

U2 are a global band and not a parochial Irish and British outfit.  U2 owe more to their American fanbase than anywhere else. I don't think they're going to concentrate on countries because they had a recent top 10 hit single either, singles chart success counts for little.

Nonsense. I could easily argue that U2 owe more to their Irish fanbase than anywhere else, because no Irish fanbase = no growth, no UK fanbase, no American fanbase...

The TRUTH though is that they owe their Irish fanbase for their existence, their British fanbase for their growth and their American fanbase for their becoming the size they are. Arguing that they owe one fanbase more than any other is ludicrous.

In Thesaloniki back in 1997 the concert was in the city's harbour yard & there were 50000 tickets sold.About the sold out issue it is definite that the Sep 3rd ci=oncert will sell out but I don't think that there is a big chance for a 2nd show, because it won't be a sold out concert

I still can't believe there aren't going to be any South or East Asian dates. Hell, Iron Maiden played to something like 60,000 people in Mumbai earlier this year.

Hey, Quatchman, welcome to the boards. Thus far, no dates have been announced for the UK or Ireland for 2010 at all. Given the sparsity of gaps in the schedule, it looks increasingly like they won't be returning to the UK *or* Ireland next year, and if they do, it will be only for a very short time. That said, there is a lot of chatter about ending the European leg with a homecoming show, and Larry has talked about wanting to play Belfast, so nothing is set in stone.
