I'm not terribly excited about Rick Rubin for U2. Especially when he worked with Linkin Park and is known for a 'Back-to-Basics' approach. That's not where U2 needs to be right now. What they need more now is a Close Encounters of the 3rd kind. Some crazy alien s@$t to apply to the music. It's time to add some different ingredients!  Tongue

Maybe V will invade their studio and give 'em a new instrument from their distant planet.

Somebody freaking give Edge a shamisen.

They aint releasing anything before the new tour except whatever they do for Spiderman as that is priority #1.
All those that are saying, well, they still have 8 months- keep dreaming cause U2 doesnt move that fast.

Well..they certainly have us guessing! Bono & Edge writing songs for these past 2 weeks in France? Seems to me, based on recent comments they would be working on writing catchy Pop songs. They probably have much of SOA done except for final versions to be worked out and re-recorded. But, with the recent writing sessions it sounds to me, obviously just a guess, that they are going after a big radio single or 2 to add to SOA...so that the media doesn't call it DOA.  Cheesy

I think if they release it, it'll be before the second leg of the tour. Wouldn't make sense to release it after the tour is over with, wouldn't have any promotion. That'd be like painting a masterpiece but not even trying to show it to anyone. What's the point, right? & the tour isn't doing THAT good that they'll do a third leg.. so. Either here within the next few months or not at all!

No way does U2 go on the road 7 months after their last show and not have new material, unless Spider-man becomes a full U2 LP.

Bono and Edge aren't songwriting for 2 weeks right now for nothing, they've got something up their sleeve.

Just a correction - 2010 is the 3rd leg, not 2nd although it may have seemed 2009 was one leg.

I'm sticking with March 2010 release but that's intuition based, nothing else.
