There is no one on this planet that loves City of Blinding Lights more than me. It is my 2nd favorite song ever to Beautiful Day. I put it over Bad and Streets in my book. Now I know no one has it that high (probably), but what do the rest of you think of this beauty of a song?

It's got a lovely intro and soundscape generally, it is kinda like a new-age Joshua Tree song in that regard. It just doesn't hit the heights for me for some reason though; it never quite moves me to the brink of tears either on record or live at any time. That puts it behind my favourite U2 tracks, but it's still a very nice song.

COBL floored me at first listen. I remember reading a review which said it never took off meaning the song itself never took off musically. I disagree....I think right after the "time" bridge it blows up. THe music and the meaning behind the song...Add in the exceptional performance on 9/24/2009....It's up there in the Top 10 for me if you ask. Now if Bono could only remember the first words it would be "epic" live!!!! "The more you feel the less you see" DAMNIT!!! "The more you know the less you see" DAMNIT!!!!

One of my least favourite U2 songs. So middle of the road and bland. To me, it's like U2 parodying themselves.

The Streets of the 2000's. Love this song, i've been fortunate to hear it live about 10 times, and every time it's more amazing.

I heard COBL on the radio just before the album release. I literally said, out loud to no one in the car, "this sounds like a good U2 ripoff" before I knew it was them.
