The Streets of the 2000's. Love this song, i've been fortunate to hear it live about 10 times, and every time it's more amazing.

Really?  I didn't like it at all before, and hearing it live didn't change my opinion of it in any way.

its alright, although walking through my town with this on headphones when the xmas lights are on is a special kind of magic - I try and reserve the song strictly for this.

one of my least favourite U2 songs along with Original of the Species, I agree with Northern Soul, just too MOR.
Pretty much sums up all that's wrong with HTDAAB

Best song on HTDAAB is OOTS. COBL has always seemed like an obvious attempt to replicate Streets to me.

This song is amazing! I still get goosebumps when I hear it sometimes because it reminds me of my first U2 concert 4 years ago.

Im actually shocked by the amount of people that voted for the top 2 categories.  I always assumed that the song had gone by the wayside just like HTDAAB has.  This song is the best song from it and arguably this decade.  It needs the recognition it deserves

It's good but not great. It could have been great with some slight changes in arrangement and production, though.

I put it in the "almost" category. Great tune, but not quite on the same level w/Streets.

Also, I think the drums are a bit too quite. But that is just personal opinion. Smiley

"Is the world really, really round?" - Larry

« Reply #29 on: November 20, 2009, 02:38:55 PM »

This song is "almost" up there with the other classic greats.

Lord knows it will NEVER surpass it's bigger brother, "Streets", but by itself, especally live, it's an AMAZING song just as much. The way the song enters with Edge's beautiful delay, Larry's military-like drums, Adam's driving bass, and of course Bono's passionite vocals. It's absolutly one of, if not, U2's BEST show openers. I wish the studio version sounded more like that.

Absolutly amazing!

Hey, maybe if they're lucky, they can re-record it.
