em, the 14 year old's quite quiet but I think he has an interest. 12 year old is way too hyper and talkative not to notice if he wasnt but no-one has surfaced yet. There's plenty of time for both them though! lol

But time won’t take the boy out of this man

15 year old son is pushing the boundaries of the school's 'acceptable length' policy and was advised to get it cut the other day. But with only 2 more weeks until end of term I think he'll get away with it. Personally, DG I wouldn't worry too much about it. I figure hair styles are only temporary; it's not like he's asking for a tattoo or piercing. Anyway, given his genetic material, mine should enjoy it while he's still got it! Grin

On the topic of hairstyles, what's with this whole 'bed hair' look??? My son spends ages in front of the mirror trying to look like how I used to look when I woke up, with bits jutting out everywhere. Instead of tidying it up, the aim seems to be to make it more messy.

Where I 1st Saw Them

Different areas of the world do different styles. Now two youngest boys are 17 & 19 and wear their
hair just short, a mans cut, ya know just layered whatever you guys call it.
But a few years back early teens, they went threw their crazy period and had dyed it black, they are
both light haired, one son bought the gel and spiked it, which was quite embarrassing,
oh and lets not forget the gauges in the ears. He has since taken out the gauge and the hole is
closing up. I guess tattoo's are happening down the road I heard.

Lets see back in my day having two pierced earing holes in my ears was a big deal.
Or embroidering my giant bellbottoms on the bottom part in flowers.

You must have had some crazy style yourself?

I've got a sad parent moment on my h ands.  I found my 13-year old daughter crying in her bedroom yesterday.  her first boyfriend dumped her.  I felt so sad and helpless.  I wish i could just put her little heart in a box and carry it around with me to protect it.  Her friends are rallying around to cheer her up and plot revenge on the boy.  i guess the lesson learned is your friends will carry you through the rough  times.

I have been off for the last week. Had my two youngest - twins of 2 years old - to myself during the day all week - and had my other four to myself on Tuesday due to a teacher's strike. I haven't had such a good (albeit tired) week in my life!! just thought Id add my 2 cents!

I've joined and kids have allowed me to be friends  Cheesy which means I can see what's going on. I'm not naive though and realise that there are chats in FB that are rightly private and they also use MSN. I think FB is a matter of each child's maturity, the honesty and trust in the relationship and education about online safety. It can be a great tool for buidling friendships, but you do need to take sensible precautions.

Just re-read what I said and it sounds too preachy - was trying to give useful advice, not wave my parental finger.  Embarrassed

My advice is tell them upfront that you want to join and educate them. For many of us parents, the WWW is an unknown place and we tend to act cautiously. My guys are aware of my concerns about chat rooms and so they discussed FB with me before signing up. I'm pretty sure you parents are likely to be the same and prefer to know that you want to sign up first, rather than discover it later.
