umm, well... apparently salome does NOT, in fact, refer to a tasty sausage...
even when you "shake it shake it shake it"?? That song has been cracking me up for years.

I actually don't have any from U2 but my best is from Message in a Bottle by the Police
A year has passed since I broke my nose,
is apparently "A year has passed since I wrote my note"

This thread is hilarious . . . if I'd been drinking a soda, I would have snorted it out of my nose. Salome . . . shake it shake it . . .
It was probably a year before I knew the "been around back, been around front" lyrics in Mofo. Honest to goodness, even though I know those are the words, I still hear, "USA! USA!"

"Colours clash, could I in bloodshot eyes?"
I know it doesn't make sense, but I sang this for YEARS!

EBTTRT: "Give me one last dance inside of the silver suitcase."
*facepalm* I still hear it that way.

For a while i heard 'Please my Friend! Please My friend!' on Mofo instead of 'Been around back, been around front' but i'd say it is more audio hallucinations than misunderstanding lyrics on my part
Heh, I always heard "Little Rabbit, Little Rabbit".

This one doesn't nearly approach our "sodemy" level of a few pages ago...Dear God....

OK, here's one that I to this day don't understand (and I don't want to be corrected as it will ruin the mystique):
"I know where the busy go, I know she got a rhythm on a boat! Hallelujah (hallelujah), here she comes."
That's how I've heard it since I bought the Desire 7" gatefold in 1988, and that's how it will remain....

Ultraviolet:
I remember when we would sleep on stars/now we lie together with blisters and sores
Instead of:
I remember when we would sleep on stones/now we lie together with whispers and moans
I thought my mistake made sense because stars are very hot, so anyone who slept on them would be covered with blisters and sores. I heard it that way for nearly ten years.

Until quite literally YESTERDAY, I believed that these were lyrics in NLOTH:
"I'm a traffic cop.... move down the line! The sound's waiting but it's me that wants to get away!"
