Just rediscovered what I know believe is EASILY the best song on Rattle and Hum when I found this awesome version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ61jqKFo74I know what you're gonna say, Edge did it better alone - Agreed, but this is still damn cool.

Thanks, NCD. I know a lot of people don't like that version (I'm looking at you, ModJoe!), but i really do. it's nice to hear their two voices together. I like the harmonies. That said, VanDiemen's land, as a song, is sorely underrated.

maybe for the R&H remaster they will release a studio version with just the edge singing it. However I wouldn't be mad if they both sang on it.

Beautiful song. One of the more traditional Irish sounding tunes they've done. What they should do for the R&H Remaster is release a version with the missing final verse: Still the gunman rules and widows pay A scarlet coat now a black beret They thought that blood and sacrifice Could out of death bring forth a life

Great song and great album! I've never seen that version before. Sometimes I forget how much I love R&H.

I love the version of Edge and Bono from last year, but the Edge solo from R/H is AMAZING

We all want another song with a lead vocal solely by The Edge, don't we?

The Edge is overdue for a lead vocal. It would be great to have this song as part of the encore every night.

It appears as if Bono's glancing at the words to the song. And he almost forgets the words at 1:09 and comes in a tad late! But I'll forgive him - it was Edge's song afterall. And I agree - the Edge need's a solo on the tour - maybe bring Numb? Pop's SBS?

Just imagine... the lights go down, and Edge is out by himself on the outer stage. Singing and strumming his guitar. And everyone gets quiet, singing along softly, but not wanting to ruin the moment of just Edge being Edge, resident genius.
