Hi all!

I've got GAs for Seattle but am hoping to get 2 Red Zones.  (I figure it will be easy to sell or donate the GAs if I get the Red Zones, and view it as insurance in case I don't get them).  For you successful Red Zone purchasers, are there any "tricks" or tips to purchasing them, other than keeping up with the auction?  I've got a bid at the current price - but nervous that I'll lose the chance to purchase them as the price goes up.  Especially since this will be my last chance to see U2 for a while (I don't think I could talk my husband into a third concert for this tour).

Do the auction tickets start climbing fast in the last few hours?  Is it better to increase my bid by a substantial amount in case they really start climbing, or just keep up with the current going price at at frequent intervals?  Does the bidding go nuts in the last few minutes (like an Ebay auction), or stay fairly steady since there is a fair amount of tickets available?

Thanks for any advice!!!

If you are able to be near the computer when the auction is ending, dont bid till the end, everyone who bids early in the process just drives the price up. It should go up more near the end, but it wont go up like crazy like Ebay auctions can at the end. Some of the RED ZONE tickets on last leg of US tour went real cheap , under $150, some went for more.

Also, unlike Ebay , if your last bid is a winner and happens to be more then the other final bids, you pay what you bid, not the next highest price. So if you bid $300 and the bidding ends at 250, you still pay 300.

Not that anybody cares ... But I need closure.

Got the Redzone tickets -area 1- for Seattle - bidding wasn't totally crazy at end but definitely nerve-racking since I was depending on my IPhone to bid.  Thanks to previous poster for the advice!

Zoost, that is great!  When we get closer to the date, we'll have to plan a big meetup with everyone.  I'm sure the seven months will fly by!

I'm curious how you handled bidding.  What was your initial bid and the final at the end?  I currently have a bid in the Red Zone auction for Minneapolis and am not sure if I should let my bid stand as is and wait to the end or increase it now (I bid $20 over the min. bid).
Thanks for any information!

Tina,
As I'm able to be online much of the time, I only increased my bid as they raised it. If you go higher than the minimum you actually help raise that minimum, thereby defeating your efforts!
Now, if I knew I couldn't be online at the end of bidding, then I *might* put in a higher bid. Or borrow someone's laptop at the critical time...or get a Smartphone. Grin

Good luck!

I tried to get Oakland and Seattle redzone but failed.  I was leading each time until 5 minutes before it closed.

I am an elementary school teacher and my lunch time is 12:15; bids stopped at 12:00.  The possibility of asking 23 6-year old children  to 'take care of themselves' for a while is not a possibility (boy I think I know which kids would take over the pack- hanging from the rafters.  The projectiles would be everywhere.  And, they would have to condemn my classroom until it was rebuilt.  Though, it would be interesting.).

I wish I had bid a bit more when I could.  I only lost each time by $10 or $15, but I did not want to bid too much.  Oh well, I'll be bopping with the GA group.

Thanks for the replies!  I should be able to be online close to the end of the auction, so maybe I'll just wait to see what happens at the end.  I do have GAs in case it doesn't work out.

The bid amount for the Seattle Redzone stayed at minimum until the last day.  I kept up with the bid amount until the last 15 minutes, when I kept at $10 over.  I was at work but had my Iphone to bid with (my IPhone loves U2! Take that Blackberry).

Anyhoo - my final price was only $5 over the minimum and I REALLY wanted those tickets after being in the nosebleed section in Vancouver!  Don't know if it was the best strategy but it worked!

Good luck!
