Hi. Im 18 and have just raided my dad's DVD collection and found Rattle and Hum, and watched the film for the first time in my life Im ashamed to say.Now I know why my dad raved and gave out about it. I liked it and see how it must have been a pain in the ass if it was released as a main release.

I think it's a great film and a good glimpse of U2 behind the scenes. Getting to see the band recording and performing is great and it has a really intimate feel to it. Glad you liked it!

Absolutely. Every other live version I've heard sounds like total crap in comparison.

Watched Rattle and Hum this morning while on the treadmill.  (I watch a U2 DVD every morning while I'm on the treadmill.  Helped me lose 50 pounds a few years ago and helps keep most of it off.)

Some of my favorite parts:

Larry and "It's a musical journey."

Adam making fun of Larry's hand gestures, and Edge punching Adam for making  fun of Larry's hand gestures.

Bono and "F__k the revolution!"

Larry in the kitchen talking about Elvis and Graceland.  That man rocks a white button-down.

Van Diemen's Land.  Edge is my hero.

Streets.

And last, but absolutely not least, Bad.

When this was released in theaters, I drove 4 hours after work to Denver to see it at a midnight screening.  Can't wait to go back to Denver in June to see the boys in the flesh.

When Larry tears up while talking about Elvis, I do too. Even after 50+ views.

I love Edge sliding down the grassy hill during Heartland too. Smiley

I like how after Edge slides down the hill, Bono tells him "Thumb a lift there, Edge!"  Rattle and Hum Edge kiinda looked like a homeless guy, so I don't know if anybody would have stopped to pick him up.

I like that during Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bono knows to say that the British government couldn't care less., not could care less  It bugs me when people say they could care less, because I don't think that's really what they mean.

I like during I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for when Larry says "my very own conga."  I wonder if during 360, he ever said "my very own djembe."

I like how polite Adam is when he asks Fintan Fitzgerald (I think) for a tissue to wipe his glasses.  "Would you pass me a tissue please, Fintan? Thank you."

I am a geek.

If hyperanalyzation of tingly moments from U2 DVDs makes me a geek, then I wear that title proudly. Smiley

Oops, I meant to say Larry making fun of Adam's hand gestures, and Edge punching Larry.  Hyperanalyzation (are you sure that's a word?) indeed.

I love parts of Rattle and Hum, but it never feels like it knows what it is meant to be.

It's not quite a concert film
It's not quite a "behind the scenes of the tour" film
It's not quite an insight into the recording of new material.

It's just not quite a cohesive film I suppose... It's more random snippets of this and that, and it suffers for lacking an overall story to tell.

But still, some of those random snippets are very, very good!
