Just wondering what everyone's favourite Christmas songs are; here are some of mine off the top of my head (in no particular order):

U2 - "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)"
The Beach Boys - "Little Saint Nick"
Greg Lake - "I Believe In Father Christmas"
The Pogues - "Fairytale of New York"
Pearl Jam - "Let Me Sleep"
John Lennon & the Plastic Ono Band - "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"
David Bowie/Bing Crosby - "Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy"
Joni Mitchell - "River"

Darlene Love's version of "Christmas Baby Please Come" is far superior to U2's.  And I like U2's version, but Bono doesn't come to close to matching Darlene's Love's vocal on that one.  Actually that whole Christmas album is amazing.

Springsteen's Santa Clause is coming to town. Christmas is definitely here when I hear it on the car radio!

Sarah McLachlan's album 'Wintersong' album is beautiful, especially 'In the Bleak Midwinter'.

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year - Johnny Mathis
Santa Clause Is Coming To Town - The Boss
Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - The U2 version ... Yoko makes my ears bleed
Just A Kid - Kenny Chesney
Frosty the Snowman - The Canadian Brass Band
Do They Know Its Christmas Time? - Band Aid
Joy To The World - Julie Andrews
Bellau Woods - Troy Hedspeth (sorry, making a plug for my musician friend, but he's good Smiley )
Silent Night - Neil Diamond ... the part when it ascends into the choir ... amazing.
Once Upon A Christmas - Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton ...  I feel like I always have to explain myself and the fact that this is what I grew up with
Adeste Fideles - Nat King Cole

I'll probably think of more ... our Christmas music collection at home has its own CD rack ... we're a little music obsessed.

not quite Christmas songs but winter songs:
the hounds of winter
christmas at sea
the burning babe
you only cross my mind in winter
soul cake

(all of those songs are by sting)

While all the rock songs are good, I can't go past Once In Royal David's City when it starts with a solo choirboy at the back of the church. One of those goosebump kind of songs

Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody
Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
Wham! - Last Christmas
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
Bruce Springsteen - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
ABBA - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?

They're all pretty much the ones i heard every year growing up, and still love them now. They're the songs i associate to Christmas.
