Glasto is on the week ending June 27th 2010. U2 have a gig in Minneapolis on June 27th.

It's possible, but I doubt it. Every year there are U2 rumours but they have never done it, and haven't done any festivals at all since 1985.

I'm in Ireland, and while I hope they play here, it's looking increasingly unlikely as time moves on. I've booked tickets for Seville & Coimbra, as these are at the end of the tour, it's more likely to see some newer material being played. I won't be holding my breath that Ireland or the U.K. will be included. If they do, great, but on possibly U2's last major stadium tour for some time, I want to see them in different places.

The good news is though, that there are still plenty of gaps in their Euro schedule. Interestingly, every gig in Europe that has gone onsale, the GA's have sold out pretty much straight away for all Euro gigs. Ticket sales in Europe have bee much stronger than elsewhere, which means there will be more gigs added. I mean, 2 gigs in Coimbra is incredible alone. No one would have thought that was possible for Portugal's third or fourth city.

I've just eaten my words, literally !!! Munch, munch.

Can't believe they are doing it, but great to hear that will be back playing their first music festival in 25 years.

The ticket scramble is now on, but Glastonbury is already a sell out.

Missed this on first reading :
From u2.com
http://www.u2.com/news/title/glastonbury-2010
The band are due to play the opening night of the 40th Glastonbury Festival on June 25. It will be the only date the band play in the UK and Ireland next year.

Thats an end to the speculation about playing Ireland or the UK. Many fans are not going to be happy with this, especially as Glastonbury is already sold out, and they have no where (apart from mainland Europe) to use their ticket presale codes, and they had no opportunity to use their presale codes for Glastonbury.

A possiblity(some might say) is that u2 get an allocation of tickets for their fan cluib members. This would be great, but unlikely as Glastonbury Music Festival manage all the ticket sales. All though unlikely, it was unlikely that U2 would play there, so you never know what could happen.

I'm sure you're right. Many fans ARE not going to be happy. But to that I say...

boo freakin hoo...

U2 played 8 shows in the UK & Ireland this year. EIGHT!

And has anyone checked the price of tickets to the continent lately with Tryin'Air, SleazyJet or otherwise? Cheaper than a bus fare.

So to anyone thinking about 'being upset'... just kinda think about how spoilt you are for choice eh?

I agree, they have played a generous number of gigs in Ireland and the UK during 2009.

I have no problem personally, but i do know, that many fans were assuming that there would be dates in Ireland or the UK, and they were holding their presale codes until these were announced. When fans renewed their memberships there was no notice to say "We won't be playing Ireland or the UK during 2010" so i can understand to a degree that some fans will be disapointed.

Bingo

When a second European leg became inevitable, LOTS of people- myself included, assumed that meant a return trip to the UK or Ireland since it has always meant that before, and especially once it became clear they were playing plenty of places again. Hardly an unreasonable assumption to make given the strength of their following there, and that Dublin is their hometown. So now we have a lot presale codes which we never used...

yeah i think it's pretty bad, i mean germany got 2 concerts last year Berlin and Gelsenkirchen both which struggled to sell out.

2010 and they get another 3 concerts.

paris get 2 concerts in 2009 and at least 1 for 2010.

Hoping for Italy 2010 and i'm there

Heck, I am a fan in the US and I am disappointed that Glastonbury is their only UK show in 2010.  Tickets are sold out and how many were u2 fans?

I did Slane in 2001 and that was 80,000 people.

I know right now I would not be happy with the massive crowds at the Glasto festival.  Oh well
