The truth is out there.

Hi!
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:29:13 PM »

I first knew U2 existed when I was 10 or 11, back in 2005 when my parents bought their Atomic Bomb album (both my parents have been fans since their teens), and we would play it in the car. I only liked that CD, plus U218, until this summer, when I tried listening to all their other albums. I haven't been the same since.   Smiley

Hi Allie (good name Smiley ).  Welcome to the forum, we're glad to have you!  I do wish my parents had been fans like yours because otherwise I would've been converted a long time ago!  There's a U2 Teens thread with some really cool people on there that you might want to join, but really, everyone I've encountered in here has been really great, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

Thanks. I was looking at the teen thread earlier, maybe I'll go check it out later. Smiley How long have you been a U2 fan?

Well, I knew about them in 2002 because my tour guide in Australia played 'Beautiful Day' every morning for three weeks (good memories Smiley ) and I bough ATYCLB as soon as I got home, but I didn't listen to anything beyond BD for a long time.  I really got into them when I was in places like Nicaragua and South Africa, where their music just made sense to me, and then when I saw U2-3D, it was all over.  No going back after that.

Wow, that's so cool that you've been to all those countries! The farthest I've ever been from home has been California. Smiley Lucky, I wish I could see U2-3D! What's it like?

Yeah, I've been really lucky in being able to travel a lot.  I mean, my mom really struggled, but she wanted to give me every opportunity she could give, and I've been able to go to a lot of different places.  You'll get your turn though, don't worry.  Smiley

U2-3D was MIND BLOWING.  I told people, "Even if you're not a U2 fan, you should go just because the technology is so cutting-edge, it's hard to believe what you're watching."  I saw it twice when it first came out and saw it again last month ... I think it should be revived once a year at minimum.

That's awesome. I want to go to Europe someday, preferably Ireland and France.

I'll have to see if U2-3D will come to my theatre.

Have you read any Dickens? I tried to read Great Expectations a couple years ago, and I just did not like it. This year I read a Christmas Carol, but it was easy because I knew the story and because it was a slightly adapted vesrion.
